This chapter picks up where we last left off, with the creature from inside the cage welcoming Sinbad home and telling him how big he’d become. The creature then tells him that they knew from a glance that he was Sinbad, since he so closely resembles Badr and Esra when they were younger. The creature notices Sinbad’s confused expression and asks if he doesn’t recognize them. They realize that, of course, he would not recognize them with their current body and then proceeds to tell him that they are actually the woman with the bun that was always with him in Tison village (no name is given). She reminds him that she was also there with him towards the end of Esra’s life. Sinbad then realizes the creature is, in fact, that woman whom he referred to as “Obachan” (this means “aunt”, which is typically what children in Japan call older women whom they are close to). The creature is glad to hear that he remembers her.

He asks her what she’s doing there and, more importantly, why she looks the way she does. She tells him that she was brought there along with many others from the village, a few years after he left.  She says that they were sent there after the Parthevian Army came to their village. The army had said that they were gathering all the unpatriotic citizens who had rebelled against the state. She further explains that they are in a human experimentation facility, which was set up to change people into monsters. She recalls how horrible it was to watch as dozens of people were sacrificed right in front of her. But despite that, she and the others had survived and were left there.  Sinbad is then shocked when he notices the other creatures staring at him from inside the cage. She tells Sinbad not to worry and that they were all once humans just as she was. But unfortunately, she is the only one who’s able to talk. She tells him that they are “failed experiments” that resulted from attempts to fuse humans with monsters from dungeons. She informs him that they will soon be disposed of and until then remain trapped there. Sinbad then thinks back to what Judal and Barbarossa had said in regards to the purge and starts piecing together what it all meant. The creature continues to tell him that, although he must already be aware of it, if he does anything to go against the state, then he will be labeled as a “non-Parthevian”. She tells him that this holds true even today and, since they had done just that, they were seen as a nuisance and were removed from society.  The creature then starts to plead with Sinbad to save them, explaining that if they were to stay there, they would surely die. She tells him that she doesn’t want to die. She says that she knows how successful he had been in Reim and how he’s now the president of the world’s largest company. She says that surely someone like him could figure something out for them. Sinbad then starts to think about what he should do. He thinks about breaking the cage and setting them free, but decides that it would not solve the problem. He then wonders if he should confront Barbarossa about it directly, but decides that he absolutely cannot do that, as it would hinder their relationship and ruin his plans. He wonders what exactly he should do and if he has no other choice but to overlook what he’d seen and just let his fellow villagers die without helping them. The creature then once again calls out to Sinbad, asking him not to abandon them and that he’s the only hope they have left. Sinbad again thinks about what he should do and starts to think about all the people in his life. His image of them starts to shatter as he begins to hear these people calling out his name (in his head).  He covers his ears and thinks about what it is that he must do and about how he must make a decision. He then begins to recall Ja’far’s words to him after he had escaped from Madaura. Ja’far had said that Sinbad’s hands had already been soiled, just as his were, and had told him to use his dirty hands to create a country and change the world. Sinbad then stands in silence and begins to cry.

After this, the changes and we see that Sinbad has told Barbarossa that he would like to buy the island. Barbarossa asks if it’s really okay to make the decision without returning to his company to discuss it first. But Sinbad forcefully assures Barbarossa that it should be fine and that his decision would remain the same regardless. Ja’far adds that he had done a rough calculation and even if they were to deduct the repayment for the island, they would be able to produce more than enough profit from conducting business there. He tells Barbarossa that this is their chance and that there are no objections. Barbarossa says that he understands and then asks Sinbad if he’s okay, mentioning how awful he looks. He tells Sinbad that he had actually received a report of him flying around over the island the night before. Ja’far is quick to ask Sinbad if he really had done that without authorization. But Barbarossa says there is nothing wrong with it. Instead, he says that he was just concerned since there are places there that they had not finished “cleaning up” yet. Sinbad then looks up at Barbarossa with a look of pure hatred, as Barbarossa asks him what exactly had happened there. Sinbad responds that nothing had happened.

Then scene then changes again to show Sinbad and Ja’far walking down a hallway and Ja’far asking Sinbad if he’s really feeling okay. He mentions how he’s not acting normal and begins to ask if something really had happened the night before. However, he is cut off by Sinbad, who tells him that everything is fine and that he’s just tired. He then asks Ja’far to return to the hotel ahead of him, since he still has some things to take care of. After a short pause, Ja’far says that he understands and leaves. As soon as Ja’far is out of sight, Sinbad turns around and vomits. He thinks to himself that things are fine the way they are and with this, their dream will finally come true. He then thinks about how he will do anything for his dream. He thinks about how it’s his own sin and is the result of what he chose to do. He thinks about how he will proceed on, no matter how dirty his hands may become, for that is his destiny.

And that about does it for this week. This was honestly disturbing.... I mean, I know Sinbad had done some really messed up things, but this was just on a whole different scale. I was thinking for a moment there that he was going to just kill them, but that would have surely been reported back to Barbarossa. But in a way, leaving them like that is so much worse than killing them. And it seems that Badr was not among those creatures in the cage, as many (myself included) had previously speculated. But honestly, if he had been…. Sinbad would have certainly lost it completely. Also, I believe this is the first time that Sinbad has hidden something so dark and disturbing from Ja’far… which was really hard to read. ;___;  On another note, this chapter was released with the concept sketches of Ja’far and Armakan! I hope you can enjoy that at least… u___u
