Snakeysseus.
Credit to @tagzpite who inspired this au with their fishysseus design. Also this fic, because it has had me vibrating in feral glee.
The premise is based on Odysseus being referred to as a snake + him becoming a monster. In this case it's literal.
As for how, I haven't decided. Perhaps a gift of power from someone like Circe or Hermes, maybe a curse from Zeus. Or even just chance.
Long boi, chunky like a burmese python. Powerful enough to constrict, strong enough to put a god down for the count long enough to escape. Cannot swallow things whole, he's still got humanoid anatomy from the hips up. The palms of his hands have thick patches of scales to protect him, with patches of scales on his shoulders and back. Has larger lungs, two hearts, and two livers. Ensuring his body gets enough oxygen, blood flow, and filtration of the blood. One heart and both livers are located in the snake part of his body.
*His snake body is almost entirely muscle, deceptively fast too. Good climber and swimmer
The scar from the boar remains, just appears on the underside of the snake body. Another scar from where Perimedes stabbed him during the mutiny. There's smaller scars on his torso and arms from when Zeus' lightning exploded his ship, and a rather large one across his nose and a cheek from the same ordeal.
Will eat just about anything he catches. Sirens, sheep, fish, birds. Although he does not actively hunt down humans, he isn't above consuming them if they attack him. Will hunt down most creatures such as sirens and harpies if he comes across them, but typically doesn't go looking for such monsters.
Terrifying with a bow. Nothing survives his aim that he doesn't want surviving.
