This baby from the recent intake was letting me know her bottle was too high for comfort! So I'm now inspired to share a few of my favorite water bottle tricks. We like to attach our bottles to the sides of cages with adhesive Velcro strips. It works fabulously in aquarium and bin cages as well as our custom cages. No hanging wire contraptions for them to climb! Plus the height is very easy to adjust. Got mineral buildup in the tip of your bottle? Heat up a bit of vinegar in a cup to near boiling and let the tip soak in it. The buildup will just melt away! Inside of the bottle looking a bit grimy? Fill it one quarter and put some dilute hydrogen peroxide in. Then screw the cap on and shake it like crazy! The sloshing knocks stuff loose, the hydrogen peroxide disinfects, and it all rinses away with no worry about residue.
