Paytm - India’s biggest mobile wallet has decided to charge a flat 1% MDR fee for all payments received on the wallet. What does this mean? Who cares we are just using it as a wallet! Won't affect us! Really? Remember, the whole ecosystem is interconnected. A charge to the merchants will eventually be a charge for us. The same way we pay an extra amount to small merchants when we swap our cards. An introduction to the MDR fees will no doubt impact many merchants and buyers. Whereas the bigger merchants will be given a relief of 1% now. Is this a good move by Paytm?
