sick of reading all the "great classics of literature". lemme go to a used bookstore and find the books that never sold a million copies, never got any adaptions, never got any attention. let me read the hidden treasures of literature that people spent their lives creating but seldom got noticed. let me read what was overshadowed by "the classics", what was overlooked on the shelf so someone could pick up a copy of a popular book instead. i want to soak in a world that is just for me and another handful of people. let me read those

So other small authors, how do you guys make merchandise and fan stuff for your books? And also do you do that?
We created a bingo sheet that promotes small authors for readers to use. Only one variation of it has been created since it was difficult to think of prompt goals, and I think everyone's reading tastes will provide enough of a variety factor anyways. Have fun if you use it!

As I'm folding papers, I've been thinking and my brain whipped up a hot take about books. You know those small authors who promote their book by describing it as (insert popular book) meets (insert other popular book)? The books written by those authors are automatically not worth reading. Blanket statement, across the board. If the best way you can describe your book is by saying "The Hunger Games meets Divergent!" then it seems like you're just bad at describing things. Why should I spend time reading a book that can't even be described by its own author?
Also, if I wanted to read a story similar to those popular books you mentioned, then I can just go read those. If I wanted to read something like the Hunger Games, then I'd crack open my hard copies of the Hunger Games. If I wanted to read Divergent, I'd check myself into a mental hospital since clearly something would be wrong with me.

Hi everyone!!
So, me and one of my amazing friends were talking, and I sent him the snippet to the ending of the book I’m writing, which I posted on here.
My friend used some of his own creative liberties and wrote the ending in his style, which I loved it so much, so I wanted to share it with y’all, with their permission. So here it is!

He looked at her softly. "I have to go." He said softly hands resting her waist. It was like he was holding her from escaping the truth.
She looked away bitterly salty tears forming in her eyes. Her vision going blurry. "I know." Her voice cracked. "It pains me to watch." She grabbed his face making him look at her. "I love you."
It was a confession.
One she knew they could never uphold together. It was her first confession. His eyes softened at her gaze.
"I love you too." He whispered. He ran his hand through her hair and kissed her forehead.
Before she could stop herself she blurted the question out that she already knew the answer to. "Do you have to go?" The words came out fast and hard.
"You know as well as I do." He said kissing her his final goodbye. Her lips salty from the few tears that managed to escape. That was his last action as he turned and left for what he assumed as home.
