I added some Life With Althaar characters to my island in Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream!
From left to right: Althaar(‘s humansona), John B, Dee, HF, Commander Torianna, Sopon, Chip, and my self-insert Keter!
I hope you enjoy my headcanons of how they would look as Miis! Rest assured, they are having a lovely and wholesome time on Catville Island, and there are absolutely no sentient plants!
I'm not saying this is canon or anything, obviously it's hard to apply modern conceptions to older writings and we all bring ourselves to our interpretations. That said, there's something really special to me as a queer woman-adjacent person about how Mina loves Lucy and Johnathan. I still think about the scene where Mina watched Lucy sleep and thought about how beautiful she was, how her fiancé will be lucky to see her like this. She segways into thinking about how women in the future will be able to propose to their husbands-to-be. I think Mina has the same love in her voice when looking after Lucy and when looking after Johnathan. And of course finding someone beautiful doesn't have to be romantic. I just like reading Mina as bi/queer and drawing on scenes like these.
Hello everyone! I wrote a little fic for Life With Althaar! You can check it out here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/71371226

Also, my good friend @captaincravatthecapricious drew Keter for me!

Happy Spawnday, Althaar!
My birthday is on Saturday and I've been re-listening to Life With Althaar, so imagine with me:
Sometime in the late season 1/early season 2 era, John B discovers Althaar's "birthday, or hatch day, or whatever Iltorians call it" is coming up. Maybe years on Iltor are longer and this is Althaar's first spawnday since coming to the Fairgrounds. Maybe he lost his previous spawnday in the last Drop Time. Maybe he tried to celebrate his spawnday before meeting John and it went terribly, hilariously awry. Whatever the reason, Althaar didn't bring it up and John had to find out through subterfuge. (Frall told him out of the blue for mysterious reasons.)
Althaar has seemed a bit tense lately, and now John understands why. It's hard being so far from home and family, and occasions like this bring all of that to the surface. So John rounds up a bunch of friends, human and otherwise, to plan the perfect birthday- er, spawnday- for Althaar. They figure out how to make a cake-shaped treat that is safe and tasty for Iltorians - they are NOT having a repeat of the chicken soup incident. They put together a party at John and Althaar's apartment with all the cheesy human tropes - candles, a pinata, a non-copyrighted birthday song, all that good stuff, all while keeping the privacy curtain up so Althaar doesn't have to contort himself to be out of sight of his human friends.
Althaar is delighted to have "a human-themed party for his day of spawning," but he still seems a little tense. Tired, maybe. That's when John announces the cherry on top - once the human attendants have gone home, John will leave for a few hours so Althaar will have a human-free space to relax and let loose. He can mingle without a curtain cutting off half the living room, call home in his own language, and maybe even finally get in some gyro-yoga.
Althaar love his human friends in the most Aristotalean sense, and he doesn't mind hiding for their safety and comfort! Even so, and especially once he's confirmed that John isn't upset, Althaar really appreciates the opportunity for a break. The great project of building understanding between humans and Iltorians is going beautifully.
Podcast listeners! Do you usually do stuff while you listen to podcasts or listen to podcasts while you do stuff?
This was going to be a poll, but I'm going to keep it as an open answer thing! Do you usually set out to listen to a podcast as the primary activity and do something (play a phone game, play with a stim toy, etc) to keep your focus on the podcast? Do you set out to do chores and put on a podcast as background listening? Do you do both about equally often? Do you have different podcasts for either balance? Tell me about your podcast-listening routines!
I'll go firet - I often "do stuff while I listen to podcasts." I have certain games on my phone that are mindless enough that they serve the need of having something to do with my hands and leave enough focus for the podcast itself to be the primary activity. For some podcasts, especially more episodic ones, I also like to "listen to podcasts while I do stuff," particularly cleaning or cooking. When I have something that needs to get done that can be a little hard to focus on or get started, a podcast can keep me company!
Feel free to use this as an excuse to tell me about your favorite podcasts too! Let's get the word out! :D

*FAQ:
Q: Does seeing an image of an Iltorian really have the same effect as seeing one in person?
A: Yes.
Q: But I’m so open-minded and/or well-travelled and/or badass! Doesn’t this make me immune to an irrational fear response?
A: No. This response is deeply embedded in the human psyche, and no one has found a way to build immunity. If you do, which you won’t, please contact the League of Humans to share your findings. Be prepared to prove your methods - there have been false claims before.
Q: What if I want to read/hear a description of an Iltorian?
A: Descriptions have a milder effect, but discomfort, nausea, and “heebie jeebies” have been reported. Pursue this information at your own risk.
Q: I’m not a human! How do I stop getting these pop-ups?
A: Go to Settings on your device, then Personal, then Biometrics. Follow the instructions to provide a sample of your blood, ichor, lubricant, or other appropriate fluid. Your device should analyze the sample in under five minutes, and this will update your species settings.
