5 things nobody tells you about RV mattresses
Buying a mattress for your camper or trailer? A few things we've learned building custom RV mattresses here in Mississauga:
1. "RV Queen" isn't a real standard size — it varies by manufacturer, sometimes by a few inches in either direction. Always measure your actual platform.
2. Corners get cut (literally). A lot of RV bed platforms have rounded or angled corners for storage access underneath — a rectangular mattress won't sit flush.
3. Foam that's fine in a house can feel different in an RV. Less ventilation and more temperature swings change how foam performs.
4. Weight is a real factor if you ever pull the mattress out to access storage or winterize the RV.
5. You can actually get one custom-built. Most people assume they're stuck choosing between "too big," "too small," or "expensive and shipped from the US."
