Knuckles POV
I sigh as I watch them sleep. I look up when sonic comes back a grim look on his usually bright face. "What did you see?" I look up at him from my spot on the floor.
"I....the aroura is gone. And were on a planet that is nothing but water for miles." Sonics voice wavers and I frown.
"What of the humans?" I ask standing up.
".... The PDA said that there was no human life signal detected." Sonic told me grimly.
I pause giving a moment of silence for the humans that lost their life today. Before a rush of determination feels me. "Bless the souls that have gone to fine peace, but I refuse to let you or our friend's parish with them on this planet." I huff walking over to the 'fabricator' as Lulu calls it. "where's that repair tool thingy?" I watch as Sonic digs out the repair tool and hands it over and I start fixing the systems on the ship grumbling to myself as I do I plan out the next moves.
We needed to get in the water and look around and get a good idea of what we're up against. I glance back at sonic; I watch carefully his ears were lowered almost looking like a kicked puppy. I can tell he's stressed and worrying. I pause as the PDA sounds off again, "Lifepod secondary systems online. Running full environment diagnostic and outputting results to databank."
I sigh and stand "I'm going out in the water. you watch the gang. Your better at medical care than me."
"Knuckles you can't if you get hurt i- I- can't get to you I mean-"
I walk over putting my hand over sonic shoulder and hum softly. "I'll be fine. I'm aware just in case I'll stick close to the pod, okay?"
I watch as sonic hesitates before nodding. I give him a smile before letting go heading towards the hatch. Sonic walking back over to the gang sitting down and checking their pulse and I jump in. The warm water flowing around me. I open my eyes amazed by the gorgeous scene before me.
I swim around staying close like I promised. Scanning and reading over the creatures' data, slowly getting more and more annoyed with the PDA warning for more oxygen. I slowly branch off. heading into what looked like a kelp forest. I pause for a moment and look up at what seem to be glowing seeds. I scan them but pause shortly after growls and snarls fill the air around me. My eye widens and I dive down my suit helping me blend with the seabed. I look up being careful not to move as I watch the predator basically swim above me, and I take this moment to scan it in peace.
I grumble as it stays above me the PDA warning about my low oxygen. I brace myself and push off the ground tackling the predator before it can see me. I gasp barely missing its teeth and pushing off the beast and toward the surface.
I gasp for air letting my tank fill up before diving down deep again only to gasp in pain as the creature rams into my stomach. I watch as it attempts to bite me, I quickly grab it's Jaws and force them apart. Its head starts thrashing side to side and I hold on for dear life.
It flings me off and charges at me again. I rear back and punch it as hard as I can sending a wave of power threw the water. I pause as it flings across the sea slowly sinking and unmoving.
I stare lost in thought before the annoying voice of the PDA comes through again and I swim to the surfaces and fill my oxygen tank up some more. I look around noticing I moved away too much from the pod. I start heading back diving down and start collecting materials along the way back.
I fill my bag up Fastly before I even get close to the ship. I glance around one more time before heading straight for the pod. I climb inside Sonic coming over to help me. I lay on the ground. "New rule, no one goes near the kelp tell we get a weapon."
Sonic smiles weakly looking me over and taking care of the scraps I got from the beasts' teeth. "I'm glad you're okay I was starting to get worried that you weren't returning."
I grab his hand. "I will not abandon my family. I swear to you. I won't let what happened to those humans happen to y'all. I'm y'all's protector after all." I smile at him and pulling him close.
I feel Sonic snuggling into me and my gaze hardens, if someone or something wanted to hurt my family, they'd have to get threw me first.
