Creating Calm ~ Finally, I could pick up the materials of the November #scrawlrbox. The color choices is so nice. Sadly, I really couldn’t coloring the dragons properly, because the pages bleeds through. I attended Sharon's typography workshop this morning and really enjoyed it as it opened me up to a lot more possibilities of expression. It was my first time attending a graphic design workshop so I was happy to try something new. She introduced us to different typography designers who were well known in the field, the rules of typography, and different ways to use text. We were given lots of extra sources to research. I decided to go online and have a look at different text layout possibilities and did small thumbnail sketches to reference later on in my project. In the post above the left sketchbook entry are my notes from the workshop and the right entry are my thumbnail sketches. 

🌕I’m still here🌕 I guess I’m just hiding away a little bit until I finally have a great body of work to show off. 🌘 However, I love looking at other artists #wips and sketchbook pages so here’s a little look at something I worked on the other day. I’m currently working on colour and shape compositions with gouache, oil pastel and acrylic pen. I’m dreaming of painting a huge mural with gorgeous, vivid colours. One day.... 😴. As always, so many ideas buzzing around my head. I often feel guilty that I’m not using enough text in my work, but right now I’m just seeing what happens when I sit down and start making.    I was planning to make more art. But I could only scratch this up for now. I thought I should try more complex weaponry for practice. So here is my study sketch of the spear of destiny, which has an interesting history to it. It's been a while since I drew christian-related art. And felt like touching base on it again. (I do not do it often because I do not want to cram it down your throats, but I DO have the tenancy show all my artwork that I make). As always, I hope you enjoy! Both of these ceramic artists are interested in language. Each of their techniques involve a repetitive quality which gives them an interesting aesthetic. Stephanie Lanter takes a word or phrase and traces around that word repetitively and ends up with a beautiful shape which could be then expressed in three dimensional form. Similarly Teresa Munn uses words and phrases and uses ‘clay as a medium for script’.
