Sketchbook for the Great City of Nephria
Welcome to James' homebrew world. (My older brother, the DM)
Page 1 & 2: Canon Art of Rosvo Corin with first idea notes.
Rosvo Corin is written as a furia vampire, barbarian, rogue (misfortune bringer), Elidar | Bloodmoon Eildar. This is kind of a Tiefling but it has differences. It is an original homebrew race for this world. He is 21 years old. He has a brand on his left chest from his thief's guild. (This is backstory relevant.) This also includes his family crest: House Runeshield.
Pages 3, 4, 5 & 6: Family Notes and his backstory.
Page 7: The Great City of Nephria's Map. (Drawn by DM.) Instead of using the alignment, we are using colours from Magic: The Gathering. So the factions are aligned by the colours, with the hub matching the colour wheel in Magic: The Gathering. Also, an Obsidian train runs through the city. Prices are like such... 1 gold for LX - the pink line on the map. 2 silver for EX - the brown line on the map.
Pages 9, 10, 11 & 12: Other Notes for Rosvo Corin: This was about creating more of his character, including his home, and more backstory notes. As a misfortune-bringer rogue, he wears a mask (It is relevant in the game.)
Page 13: How everyone is connected - Since..yes..Rosvo and his family are unknowingly the center of this entire first plot...Opps. 😬 Colour coded.
Page 14, 15, 16 & 17: More Notes for Rosvo Corin. Bored, so tried to create a character, but I now have an official one from the DM.
Page 18: Campaign 1 - Starts here. Played Saturday, Jul 8th.
Work in progress of a kind of sidekick character to Pebble . He is named Kipp and he is the visualization of Pebble their intuition. Kipp Knows Things (tm)
Kipp is about the size of a pencil, but he is nevertheless a very good advisor. He feels strongly which path is the right one to take.
To his frustration, Pebble doesn't always listen to Kipp his knowing advice...
A character based on myself if I lived inside of a comic. For comic practices.
Trying to figure out shapes that balance well :3
Sketchbook Notes Part 3
Backstory
Born the illegitimate child of a noble male and prostitute who died giving to him, Rosvo spent most of his time in the kitchens. The cook (elf) took a shine to him, letting him play with his son (elf) who was about the same age as him. He never fully understood why he had to stay in the kitchens or his bedroom and not interact with the rest of the family. He knew that the head of the household, Walynor, was his biological father but didn't know anything else about his origins.
It wasn't until about 9 years old, that the truth came out about his origins and this caused the rift between him and his father to grow even more. This also caused growing anger to build inside him. He constantly caused trouble around the family home, sneaking into the rest of the house (outside the areas he was allowed to be). This mostly included him breaking objects of value or using the secret passage to scare his siblings.
This came to a full head when he was caught in his father's office, trying to evidence of his mother's existence. He was 16 years old and caught in the middle of reading a personal journal of his father. His father was seething with anger as he saw the half-grown horns of his illegitimate child as he read this important book. This sparked a fight between the two, causing Rosvo's left horn to be broken and a giant wound on his father's face. He was banished from the family home, with nothing but clothes on his back.
He was later found by a member of a thieves' guild, ________. The member took him to the underground clinic, where the local cleric healed him. Rosvo wasn't very fond of this man as his father was also a very religious man and constantly said verses about his misdeeds. The head of the thieves' guild, _________, a _____ rogue, wasn't fond of the young and decided to use Rosvo's anger to his advantage. Using Rosvo as bait for the guards while his team raided places, the leader soon inducted the young man, now about 20 years old into his guild. This induction would leave a brand on Rosvo's left chest.
When Rosvo turned about 25(23) years old, the leader decided to test Rosvo's skills in stealing. He found a wealthy man's house, a known vampire; to raid. He didn't tell Rosvo that this was a vampire's home, letting the young man go in blind. This experience left Rosvo as a vampire, with little guidance and the guild abandoned him, taking him for dead. He barely remembers what happened.
Some characters haven't been named since I was letting the Dungeons master fill it in. Also, this story may have kicked started the whole campaign...

Combing through sketchbooks from the last two years, and came across this note to myself I wrote while trying to draw the actors in a movie. Seems like pretty decent advice still. The odd poetic meter I scrawled it down in reads kinda nice too:
don’t get
so caught
up in measuring
after a point a
shape is just a shape.Â
accuracy to life is
partially in ratios but also
form, gesture solidity ...
impressions.
Notes for my Art work that I presented in crit on February 29, 2016.
Please note that this is not the complete set of notes for this work.
