need thoughts on this, how do we think skeletons would perceive Mongolian throat singing if they see everything in words… how do you put letters to that?
First of all, thx for the question. Second, idfk why did you ask me I’m the worst person to ask for Handplates lore 💔 /lh
Skeletons don’t really “see” the words of people when they talk. According to my very shitty memory (which prob isn’t canon because I have no good way to fact check this so take this with a grain of salt), I saw somewhere that technically skeletons don’t see words, it’s more of a synesthesia experience more than anything? (Synesthesia is when your brain routes sensory information through multiple unrelated senses, causing you to experience more than one sense simultaneously. —Cleveland Clinic. Symptoms include involuntary perceptions that cross over between senses (tasting shapes, hearing colors, etc.) sensory triggers that consistently and predictably cause interplay between senses (e.g., every time you see the letter A, you see it in red)) So basically they prob wouldn’t see letters, more like experience two different effects (they don’t have brains but uh yeah bear with me): primary effect through sensory input and then another effect without input to cause it.
“Visual synesthesia can also happen in different ways. Some people experience visual synesthesia like a “projection,” meaning their brain directly combines the secondary effect into their sense of sight. That causes them to experience it as if they actually see it. Other people have an “internal screen” effect. They can automatically picture it in their head but don’t experience it as if they were seeing it directly.” (Cleveland Clinic)
There’s not a specific type of synesthesia that would be exact for this situation (at most hearing-motion synesthesia). With actual Handplates lore, I’d say that, first they wouldn’t actually see words, and also it’s not like fonts are something outside of a skeleton thing. Other than skeletons, all monsters have the default font of determination, and idk if they can “see” that font. I’d say they don’t, but if they do, because Mongolian Throat Singing is at most a harmony, they probably wouldn’t see it as words.
So in conclusion, I have no clue but they prob wouldn’t see in words that singing nor in general. (Also I did actual research for this omg idk how to feel)
