C'mon Ipswich witches you can do this !
There was a funeral in the parking lot of my local speedway. Now this is what USA is about
Or maybe it was a ritual. There was a picture of someone and candles surrounding it.
Sorry for the crappy graphics, i have an iphone 12. I wanna get a new one so im saving up
shoutout to the cashier at speedyway
that clearly saw the look on my face
after five hours at the first rehearsal of tech week
and still learning blocking
and didn't charge me for my big gulp

Released on this day (12 June 1968): Speedway. Tagline: “Smooth, fast and in high gear!” Look, all Elvis Presley movies are terrible, but some are worse than others. For approximately two and a half minutes at least, Speedway absolutely sizzles. And it’s not down to Elvis! Wacky hijinks ensue when a devil-may-care stock car driver Steve Grayson (Presley) is audited by a super-glamorous female IRS agent (!) Susan Jacks. She’s portrayed by irresistible sex kitten Nancy Sinatra in a role originally offered to Petula Clark and Annette Funicello. (Actually, Speedway was originally conceived as a vehicle for pop duo Sonny and Cher!). Inexplicably, Susan gets her own musical number – and it’s arguably one of the rare occasions Presley was outshone by his leading lady (see also: the explosive Ann-Margret in Viva Las Vegas four years earlier). Rocking a perfectly tousled leonine bouffant mane and a matchy-matchy powder-blue ensemble of turtleneck, tight pants and suede go-go boots, Sinatra stylishly belts and purrs the brash and sexy ditty “Your Groovy Self”, penned by her frequent musical collaborator Lee Hazlewood (the maverick genius behind her masterpieces like “These Boots Are Made for Walkin’”, “Summer Wine”, “Sugartown” and “Some Velvet Morning”). The sequence is stark, minimalist Pop Art perfection. As blogger Peter Viney puts it, “The choreography on “Your Groovy Self” is clichéd, but she sings in a laconic, almost sleazy way, and the band sounds burlesque with a powerful drum part, as if about to break into a striptease. We won’t investigate how Lee Hazlewood came to rhyme ‘bus’ with ‘dangerous.’” (“Your Groovy Self” is viewable on YouTube). Elvis’ best song in Speedway is “Let Yourself Go.” The supporting cast includes Gale Gordon (aka Lucille Ball’s boss Mr Mooney on The Lucy Show!). Epilogue: years later punk musician Bob Bert interviewed Sinatra for the zine BB Gun and asked her point-blank “Did you and Elvis fuck?” She responded, “I wish!”
