GANYMEDE: They were the first person who could ever keep up with you. When you got assigned as partners at the SOLDIER corps, you thought your higher-ups had made a mistake; the difference between your personalities was obvious. They surprised you as much as you surprised them, though, and soon the two of you worked like two parts of the same body. You’d been thinking about leaving the corps even before they brought it up; when you enlisted, you were expecting to be working outside the walls, not inside. Your home district was nothing but rubble underneath a crashed sky plate and there was no way in hell they were taking you to their shithole of a district, so the two of you did what you could to survive until you found a job at ROBIN CO.

PASIPHAE: The strange summon does not trust you. Of course, you have no idea why. It seems that the deity within the red orb has a general distrust of anyone who isn’t AMALTHEA and ADRASTEA, but it distrusts SOLDIERS more specifically. Even though you recently left the SOLDIER corps, they turn their eyes accusingly towards you. Part of you wonders if the strange deity is more aware of the inner workings of the SOLDIER corps than it lets on, and it fills you with distress. You were only following orders.

IO: Your intention was not to leave them behind. You promised you were going to return for them and you were going to stand by your words, but the training to become a SOLDIER was longer than you had foreseen, and so much more painful. The life of a SOLDIER was nothing like you’d heard it would be. In the end, it was them who saved you. After you left the SOLDIER corps, you returned to Colosseum, only to find that they were no longer around. When you managed to track them down, it was like meeting a different person. They were working as a spy for a private company, and when you told them you had nowhere to go, they put in a word for you and your partner with METIS, the owner of ROBIN CO. It’s thanks to them that you were able to readjust back into civilian life after years in the corps.

EUROPA: They were the first and only partner assigned to you in the SOLDIER corps. Although your personalities were starkly different, when you were in battle, you adjusted to each other seamlessly. You have saved each other’s lives countless times and it’s an unspoken thing that it will always be that way. The two of you share the same views in regards to the SOLDIER corps-- you both shared in on the fleeting triumphs, but mainly on the horrors and trauma. It was no surprise when they readily agreed to leave the corps with you even if neither of you had a place to go at the time.

As teens, the two of you would sit by the staircase that led up to the outside world for hours, imagining and reimagining what your lives would be like when you got out of Colosseum. They were the first to leave. I’m enlisting as a SOLDIER, they’d said, I promise I’ll return for you. They never did. You spent years hoping that one day they would show up just as they always had when you were in danger, but as you’ve grown older without them, you have learned to be the only person you need.

METIS: You found each other at pivotal times in your respective lives. They had just inherited a business, and you had just left the underground city. It was the first time someone needed you as much as you needed them. With a short week remaining on your permit to stay within the walls, they agreed to hire you right away and renewed it for an indefinite amount of time. As long as they had the business, they’d mentioned, you wouldn’t be out of a job. As the second person to be hired at ROBIN CO., you consider the small company more of a home than a job.

CALLISTO: They are the only person you haven’t lost. You met them later in life, but they are just as irreplaceable to you as your family had been; as the previous owner of ROBIN CO. had been. They were by your side through hardships that you can’t begin to describe, and even now, you are constantly left speechless by their unyielding loyalty. When you were in a hole, they threw you a shovel and helped you dig your way out. Without them, you doubt that the company would have survived half as well as it did– you doubt you would have survived. In a way, they saved you from yourself.

IO: You don’t believe in fate, but the chance encounter you had with them couldn’t have happened at a better time. Their set of skills are immeasurably valuable to you, but you know that you can’t assign a value to people, especially with the shitty paychecks you hand out. There was something more about them that you saw right away, however, you just could never distinguish it. LYSITHEA: There is a part of your heart that will always belong to them, which is maybe why you changed their name in the system and offered them a job at ROBIN CO, as well as a place to stay in district seven. You saw the way the world turned against them and couldn’t help but step in. Regardless of the past between you two, you try not to hold any bitter feelings. You know that they left you behind because it was their family’s choice and not their own. You once joked that you would steal them away to a life where no one would control them, and fate had a funny way of holding that particular promise.

METIS: They are the closest thing to family you have. You aren’t related and only met a few years prior, but you know that you will follow them against all odds just as they will follow you. The two of you were the only ones working at ROBIN CO. before the previous owner passed away and Metis inherited the company, and neither of you considered parting ways after Robin’s death. They didn’t have to ask you to stay, the two of you kept on taking the few jobs you’d get every now and then while the business was going through a rough patch. After the hardships you’ve endured side by side, you can communicate with a single look and rarely struggle to understand each other.

CALLISTO: They offered you a new life, a new identity. Whether they did it out of pity when they saw your fall from grace or to honor the memory of what you once meant to each other, you don’t know. All you do know is that you’re grateful to them, even if this new life is a far cry from what you’re used to. Going from being a resident of Wall Halo to Gossamer Wall is taking effort and optimism, the latter of which you were not raised with. Even now, CALLISTO seems willing to help you adjust, even though you left them behind a lifetime ago to chase bigger dreams that ultimately led to your downfall.

AMALTHEA: They are giving you a new perspective of life. Unlike you, they are used to rolling with the punches, and yet they remain kind through it all. You don’t know much about them yet, but from what you understand, they’ve had a difficult life. It amazes you how optimistic they are in spite of it, and part of you admires them for it. You can’t help but wish to be similar in outlook, but it would take a lot to unlearn everything you were taught in your upbringing. They were so quick to open up their heart to you, despite how distant and detached you were when you first arrived in the district. Their presence is comforting, like you are standing in a patch of sunlight in the middle of a rain storm.

AMALTHEA: This strange and small human stole you away from the SOLDIER corps, and they changed your general perspective towards humans altogether. They were small and frail, unlike the SOLDIERS who’d previously claimed you as theirs. You have been passed from hand to hand for so long that you had forgotten how it feels to protect rather than destroy. Still, you realized, you would destroy anything for them. Their hands were not cold and controlling, they were gentle and warm, holding you as if they were afraid to harm you-- as if they were thoughtful of the strength of their fingers so that you would not be caged between them.

EUROPA: You do not trust the SOLDIER corps, and while you are well aware that they’re a civilian now, you cannot trust the experiments a SOLDIER goes through. It leaves behind residue, and you have no faith in Jupiter’s government. Not only that, their personality is less than likeable. Every encounter with them leaves you with an odd feeling, but you can’t put a finger on it. All you know is that they unnerve you to no end.
