I keep waiting for my memory to improve. This week I made cases for a movie I'd already put out last week. I had written "Barely Legal" the first week, so at least the second time around I got "Barely Lethal" corrected. Today I was out of office for a few hours before finding out I had changed an employees schedule and only one person was working. I also wasn't there when someone came by to pick up a silent auction prize, which I said I would have ready. Normally that would all make me feel terrible but I recognize that what I do isn't saving lives. What keeps me from panicking is I remember after the fact and I have little habits which help me out, like I know I don't pay for my purchases at the shop with cash and I don't leave cash under the mousepad. I know when I break something and eventually remember things I can't recall immediately--it just takes a little more jogging to get there. I remember making mistakes. So not having instant or perfect recall isn't as scary as it would be if nothing came back to me. A pain in the butt and frustrating? For sure. Something else to stress over? Nah. Why feel stress now over something you won't remember tomorrow? My dad commented once his favorite part about hearing aids was being able to turn off the noise of the world, at will. Memory dump does keep the noise down.
