This is not the first time he is stuck in someone else's body, not even the first time this week, but that doesn't make the experience any less disorienting.
(Mary's body was... odd. The whole time he was in it, Wukong felt like he was on the shore of a bottomless lake, barely seeing past the surface of the water. What was left of his own animal instincts seemed to agree with the body of a girl (?) he was stuck in: He doesn't need to know what hides in the water.
(He was never a strong swimmer anyway.))
This is different though. Right away he can tell it's a monkey body, and a cursory glance at his fur and hands reveals exactly what monkey it is. That's about all the warning he gets before the world explodes.
Immediately Wukong slaps not-his hands over not-his six ears, but that barely helps with an onslaught of sounds from every direction. He can hear people speaking outside, each conversation meshing together until it's nothing but incomprehensible static. The pipes in the house are creaking like mountains shifting around him, water sloshing through them like a waterfall. His own heartbeat is thundering loud enough to make him shake.
It can't be this bad all the time, Wukong thinks- tries his best to, despite the noise. (If it is, he owes Macaque about a million apologies for rolling his eyes whenever the other complained he was too loud.). There must be a trick to managing this that he just doesn't know. Not taking his hands off the ears, he reaches towards the phone on the table with his foot and picks it up, dialing his own number. He holds the phone away from his face, afraid of accidentally injuring his- the kid's- ears by putting the speaker right to them.
"H-hey, kid." The voice coming out of his mouth feels too loud even as he whispers. He just hopes Liu'er can hear him. "You have any tips on how to deal with- with the noise?"
