@light-imperfected, because we must have an ongoing thread together always
Somehow, this is not even the first time he's been hunted by a version of himself in this city. It is starting to become a tradition of sorts. One he's not fond of.
Wukong hops over the root of the giant tree, ducks under a branch. He's much better at moving around in this body by now, but the human him has fifty-something years of experience of doing just that and he had what? a couple weeks?, so despite his best efforts it's a pretty skewed fight.
Again, nothing new there.
There are some things that he can do that human Wukong can't though. Like now, once he makes a sharp turn that puts him out of view, the former monkey shrinks instantly to half his size and slides into an small opening between the tangled roots before going completely still. He can hear his pursuer stop as he makes the turn, look around. Wukong closes his eyes, narrows his world down to this spot under the tree and times his breaths to the sound of the wind rustling through it. He's not completely unused to being prey, and he knows how to be a damn good one.
He waits there, unmoving, as the steps of his other self grow more distant, and then waits some more, until he hears different steps approaching. Only then he crawls out of his hiding spot-
-And immediately slams his head into someone. Yeah, definitely not as dexterous as he's used to being.
"Can you watch where you're going, buddy? Some of us are running for our lives here." Wukong rubs at his forehead, frowning up at the stranger before growing back to his usual height. Then he's just frowning. Huh, has he seen this guy somewhere before?
