My Momma Cat Lost Her Kittens
She stares at me, as if she is asking "why I can smell them but they aren't here?"
She stares at me, as if I can comfort her with answer,
but little did you know, Momma Cat,
I, too, know as much as you do.
She stares at me, as if it was just our usual banter,
as if she is only moving her kittens to another snug and warm place, and I moved them back to their previous spot.
She stares at me, as if she would find those small paws once she went back to the cardboard on the corner of the room.
She stares at me, as if she is asking "why I can smell them but they aren't here?"
I stare at her back, "I'm sorry, dear."
