So this fic is basically 2022 Mick having such an obvious crush on Sewis-partnered!Seb that it gets Seb thinking about the affair he had with Michael that spanned the year before Seb won his first championship, from ROC to ROC, basically. It's a reflection on how young he was (the same age Mick is now, and how that makes him feel) and how conflicted he's been about so much of the relationship - whether Corinna ever knew, whether he's allowed to tell anyone (including, importantly, Lewis) because it's part of his romantic past and informs how he feels about things but he doesn't want to ruin anyone's image of Michael(tm).

whenever i’m struggling with something like that, it’s usually because i’m trying to leap too far. i try to make everything into very small and simple steps forward. here are some things i do to break down what’s blocking me:

i ask myself “what don’t i know?” and make a list of questions i have for the story (where are the characters? how did they get there?). that way, i can go through and answer them before i begin a scene

i start with the thing most familiar, or that i *do* know, and i fill in the other details in future drafts. in other words, i try to mitigate decision fatigue. you can only ever make so many decisions at once

i write what a call a skeleton draft, which is just the basic beats of a scene. Character says this. Character moves here. Character admits their ardent pining of other character.

take a walk, take a shower, take a nap, do your dishes, or go for a drive, and task yourself with thinking of the scene at hand
