Second: I think I'm not able to be as objective with my opinion regarding the twins and their dynamic. You're absolutely right, just calling him the evil twin completely ignores the rest of his characterization, background, etc. Everything that makes him who he is. I get that's it not that simple but knowing people like that in real life makes it feel simple. Like yes this person has trauma and they create a persona to protect themselves but they also do things (also to protect themselves) that can put other people in a compromising position. Like when he said "you gonna let her come between us again" [to smoke about Annie, which I'm sure you know but still], I was like how twisted. I know stack felt "abandoned" or "ignored" by smoke while he was deep in his relationship with Annie, but it's like don't you want your brother to be happy. I don't know this is all just yap, but thanks for even responding!

Genuine question: did you not have ANY anger towards stack at all? He was so manipulative and colorist and selfish. He had trauma of course but so did smoke. Stack knew how to manipulate everyone around him including his brother and him bringing screwing that white girl basically got everyone killed. I don't know I just think there are some genuine reasons for not liking that man.
I will preface this by saying that I don't disregard Smoke's trauma in the least. I simply dislike people making Elias out as The Evil Twin™ by excluding the nuance of his character and applying traits to him based on opinions, i.e. colorist, manipulative, and selfish.

Something I’ve noticed when reflecting about Sinners is that none of the songs Remmick sings are his original songs. “Rocky Road to Dublin,” “Will Ye Go, Lassie Go” and “Pick Poor Robin Clean” are all songs other people wrote. I think it reflects how he as a vampire is completely devoid of life, so he’s clinging to the lives of others.
Meanwhile, the songs that Sammie sings are all his own songs! Even Pearline’s “Pale, Pale Moon” and Delta Slim’s singing are their original music. I thought it was a great parallel!
as someone who’s watched the movie like 10+ times and is beyond excited about it coming back out to theaters, this was the point, yes.
