Vybz Kartel
Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Azim Palmer, is a Jamaican dancehall artist who has had a significant impact on the genre. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1976 and began his music career in the early 1990s. Over the years, he has released numerous albums and singles, many of which have become popular in the dancehall and reggae scenes.
Vybz Kartel is known for his energetic and distinctive style, which often incorporates fast-paced, sing-jay delivery and catchy melodies. He has also been known for his controversial lyrics and controversial public persona.
In 2011, Vybz Kartel was arrested and charged with murder, and in 2014, he was convicted and sentenced to life in prison. His trial and subsequent imprisonment have been the subject of significant media attention and controversy in Jamaica. Despite his incarceration, Vybz Kartel continues to release music and remains a popular and influential figure in the dancehall scene.
