Ja-Man All Stars - Rasta Feeling [1977]. The instrumental used for Bim Sherman’s ever popular Mighty Ruler, but here in a dub mix without Bim’s voice. Tripe Girl riddim, originally a Heptones classic.

Printesa de Aur - Cand sunt langa tine [2019]. Apparently a new release, but sounds older too, no? I consider her as a most amazing singer, but somehow her voice sounds in most releases muffled, masked by unwanted frequencies. Saw a video recently from a live gig in Italy where her voice sounded as impressive as expected. Maybe they’re using improper mics, preamps or postprocessing tech in the studio?
Kuchek Optika. Kuchek with a off the hook clarinet sound. And likewise playing. Judging from the backing track, this is at least 10 years old. Very enjoyable.
Blessed San walks in the streets of Kampala with Semulema Daniel Katenda on camera. Traitor is the lead single taken from Stalawa in East Africa. Order vinyl...
Stalawa ft Blessed San - Traitor [2019]. Another East-African/Scottish link in this release by Scotch Bonnet Records. And it’s a most amazing tune. Surprises me that this gets so little attention on Youtube.

Thermovibe - Are You Ready [2003]. Nice and relaxed mood, right in the middle between dub and a roots tune.

‘Though we are oceans away, you whisper to me, and I hear what you say.’
Tatyana - Samo S Teb [2019]. More new good chalga
Novo Kuchek Baraban 2019. A well wicked mix with these solo drums.
Dillinger - Freshly / Prophets All Stars - Flour Blow (2 cuts) [1976] ... and the radical deconstruction of the Jah Vengeance instrumental, to just drums & some bass. Sounding most spectacular in the dubs (starting at 3:12 & 6:11). Mixed by King Tubby or Pat Kelly
The Prophets - Jah Vengeance (Dub) (Unreleased Cut) [1975/2019]. Or rather a straight instrumental mix, if you prefer, w/o any effects like echoes. Very nice either way! From the recently released 2x LP Yabby You Meets King Tubby

Ranking Joe/Twilight Sound System - Shaka Zulu (extended mix) [2007]. This is deadly, absolutely deadly!
Kuchek Koraba [ca 2009]. I smell a copyright predator here, trying to eat up other artists’ work. This tune is well known at least since 2009, as played by Ali Pysik. There are more tunes, recently listed as played by Ork Shabla. All with this stupid “3-2-1 break down” sample at the beginning, but those tunes were around before (without that sample).

Bulgarian music like Kuchek has traditionally been a (local) community thing. Musicians or DJs have made money by playing at local events like weddings. There was no real market for vinyl, CD or digital sales. But the popularity of Kuchek and related styles has grown immensely, with some promo vids on Youtube getting 15 million views or more. Looks like this made some other folks very greedy…
Somebody more knowledgeable than me needs to investigate this.

Florin Salam - Nani Nani (Dj Bobby G extended mix) [2019]. Manele tune remixed in Bulgarian style.
King Tubby/Revolutionaries - Slave Driver Dub [1979]. The dub to Dennis Brown’s Slave Driver. Essential & legendary stuff.
Cronox DJ, Bruno LC & Brian Remix - El Racatak [2019]. The established formula, with some nice details

Hornsman Coyote - Return Of The Warriors + Dub [2008]. These horns are killer! Hornsman is Nemanja Kojić from Belgrade, Serbia. Released in the UK.
Emanuela - Predatel (Extended version by DJ Enjoy) [2019]. Slightly remixed version. Very nice too.
