WW2 Darkolai au, Nikolai’s life was the one of normal soviet until the invasion happen and everything changed, he hide in forests, scared (at first) to fight the nazis till he’s surrender by them and partisan sasha rescues him and from them on he doesn’t back away and becomes partisan
Tbh I need to go back to darkolai because I miss reading grey scale characters debating/planning from two different perspectives about how they could actually guide a kingdom submerged in war, discrimination and fucking monsters.
Gyeon-oo and Ji-ho in episode 6 of Head Over Heels are so Darkolai.

Aleksander has to fight the urge to pin Nikolai to the nearest solid surface, then has a nice chat with one of the twins.
Oh, it just dawned on me why I prefer to think about darkolai more than about darklina — well, besides the fact that Nikolai seems like a deliberate hypocrite, whereas Alina has an aura of absolute ignorance — I prefer foil parallels rather than "opposites", which in theory should complement each other, but nope.
