The resuscitation/trauma assessment usually starts with the ABCDE approach (primary assessment), and one of the most helpful things I’ve ever had a team lead do during a simulation case was to tell the team, “whenever you have a free moment, please repeat the primary assessment!”
This helped us catch on to changes in vital signs and clinical clues way faster because everyone was in a constant cycle of assessment and reassessment as various interventions and investigations were going on. I will definitely be using this in the future!
