Lunch – salmon fish cakes Wednesdays are traditionally fish days in my house. Mainly because @pickandpay has their sushi special on Wednesday s and I always love me some sushi! But today I didn’t have time to drive all the way to Pick n Pay and the craving for fish was real. So I made salmon fish cakes! We strive to eat as much real food as possible. My favourite trick to get enough nutrition and goodness into our food? I cook a large batch of veggie sauce – basically I take any veggies I can find (have even added lettuce that was beginning to wilt) and especially the ones that lie forgotten at the back of the fridge, and cook them up with a bit of bone broth and lots of tomato. I then blitz this into a silky sauce which I freeze. That then forms the base of things like bolognaise, veg soup, stews, curries, and more. The kids get in their veg and we have a beautiful tomato-ey sweet kick from the sauce. If you want more ideas like this one, then head on over to the blog’s recipe section. Have you started your capsule wardrobe yet? When I initially changed over, I followed “the rules” to the T. Now, about 2 years in, I have relaxed a bit. My winter capsule consists of roughly 30 items, and I am planning on adding a few cardigans or similar so will end up just under 40.
