*whew! This one was a long and challenging one because like I mentioned I was trying to wrap up Chapter One.
I also made my first pose! (It’s the knife throwing one-- I wanted to make it dynamic-- but that rig is very tricksy) hat tip to veterans @rebouks and @ratboysims because your tutorials saved Dia from a squiggly-fingered fate. Also had to learn how to paint blood and scars, so that’s why it took so long. Anyways hope you enjoyed Chapter One, and stay tuned because next chapter we meet some Weres and a micromanaging boss!
As always WCIFF -- Transcript below cut
“Let me in. Let me in. Let me in.”
“Not by the hairs of my chinny-chin-chin,” I muttered.
There was a snarl and the sound of something heavy crashing against the Door. Once, twice, and finally, three times. I imagined I could hear wood splintering.
“I said no!” I pulled out the paring knife I always carried and sliced my left palm. Wincing, I squeezed out enough blood to coat the blade and flung it at the Door. The creature gave a roar of outrage as my blood powered the sigils etched into the Door, banishing it.
I was almost six feet away, but there was an answering twinge of heat that pulsed through the cut on my palm. I took a couple breaths to calm my racing heart and checked my hand. The cuts never bled for long, but they did leave scars. Funny that.
Ladies and gentleman, the South Door.
Symbols and sigils were inscribed across its dark surface, sourced from multiple cultures and magical practices. It may be splintering, paint-flaked, and situated twelve feet underground in a concrete bunker, but it was the reason Compass House existed in the first place.
This was also the reason I was allowed to stay in Compass House rent-free, regardless of anyone’s opinion (cough, Eloisa’s, cough.)
For in the unknown beyond the South Door, creatures of every ilk always came knocking, and our purpose at Compass House was to open the Door or turn them away.
And I was one of the few people who could recognize the Wolf at the Door.
Months passed in a generic blur, Christmas came and went in a cinnamon scented haze and Lillia had just settled back into classes when the storm came.
It was almost unheard of, on the edge of impossibility, but that was the year that it snowed in Arizona. It might as well have been the apocalypse, classes were cancelled, girls cried and huddled in their rooms with cocoa and movies, the normal world of college just stopped for a week.
Lillia thought it was magical and while her sorority sisters huddled in the house she pulled on her coat and boots and explored the strangely alien frozen world that campus had become. The people who ventured out seemed different to the usual college types, their big coats, cold related small talk and red noses made it feel a friendlier place, more like a community than the normal set up of rigid cliques.
To Lillia the whole college felt like new with all the reminders of stupid things she had done hidden under a clean white blanket. It felt like anything could happen, which is perhaps why the unthinkable did.

Violet was uber bored on the weekend so she invited Drake (Hadley’s son) and Kaylee (Alice’s daughter) over to play. I wonder what’s going on in that second pic...
Days quickly turned into weeks as Cam and Jo spent every waking moment with one another. Jo liked how it felt being around Cam; life felt easy and full of warmth.
Soon, the weather turned cold and Christmas was in the horizon. Cam came over early this morning to help pull boxes of decorations out of the garage and unbox them, turning the house into a winter wonderland.
Cam came back into the room, just as Joanna was hanging the last of the ornaments.
Pulling a small box off the side of the tree, he held it up in his hands.
“I don’t recognize that one,” She said, looking at the red satin box, held by a delicate white string.
He smiled.
‘Well, let’s open it an see,” He whispered, getting down on one knee.
“Joanna, Will you ...”
“YES” She yelled, tears filling her eyes.
He beamed back at her, slipping the ring on her finger.
“One more question,” He said as she gazed at her fingers and the Christmas lights dancing across the diamond.
“Anything!” She said enthusiastically.
“Will you marry me...now?” He asked

I met up with Rico downtown the night before about the “progress” I made on getting Cypher’s technology for him. Tim and I had grown “closer”, and he was very forthcoming with information on what management discussed regarding the issues and bugs with the application and what they were doing to address the problems.
“Do you have what I need?” Rico asked me.
“No, but I’m getting…
