“Now?” 

Jo asked staring back at Cam.

“Yes, right now,” he started. “I have everyone coming over in just a bit, and I say we just get married tonight, on Christmas Eve, in front of our friends and family”

Jo didn’t know what to say. Her time with Cam has been the most steady and beautiful of her entire life. It only took a few dates before she started seeing him in her long-term future. But, now?

“Yes,” she whispered, her heart taking over and silencing any part of her that wanted to object. Time as precious, and she knew without a doubt that she wanted to spend every moment with Cam. 

Around 7pm, her friends and family had gathered for dinner. They had no idea what was coming up after the main course. As the last guest finished up, Cam stood. 

“I want to thank everyone for spending their Christmas Eve with us. Most importantly, for opening up your hearts and being apart of our lives all year long. We love each of you and wanted to share some news with you first. Today, I asked Joanna to marry me. To be my wife from this moment forward. And, I do mean... THIS.. moment” He said, empathizing the last sentence to allow everyone to take it in. 

There were gasps and cheers, as everyone put together what was happening. Joanna stood to take her place next to Cam. 

And just like, in the front of their friends and loved ones, Joanna and Cam committed to their life together. 

Days quickly turned into weeks as Cam and Jo spent every waking moment with one another. Jo liked how it felt being around Cam; life felt easy and full of warmth. 

Soon, the weather turned cold and Christmas was in the horizon. Cam came over early this morning to help pull boxes of decorations out of the garage and unbox them, turning the house into a winter wonderland. 

Cam came back into the room, just as Joanna was hanging the last of the ornaments. 

Pulling a small box off the side of the tree, he held it up in his hands. 

“I don’t recognize that one,” She said, looking at the red satin box, held by a delicate white string. 

He smiled. 

‘Well, let’s open it an see,” He whispered, getting down on one knee. 

“Joanna, Will you ...”

“YES” She yelled, tears filling her eyes. 

He beamed back at her, slipping the ring on her finger. 

“One more question,” He said as she gazed at her fingers and the Christmas lights dancing across the diamond. 

“Anything!” She said enthusiastically. 

“Will you marry me...now?” He asked
