Description

Pettie specialized in dramatic historical and literary subjects from the sixteenth, seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Silvius and Phoebe depicts a romantic scene between Shakespere's two shepherd lovers;

'Sweet Phoebe, do not scorn me, do not, Phoebe Say that you love me not, but say not so in bitterness'

"For when Ascanius took over the rule, Lavinia, becoming alarmed lest her relationship as step-mother might draw upon her some severity from him, and being then with child, entrusted herself to a certain Tyrrhenus, who had charge of the royal herds of swine and whom she knew to have been on very intimate terms with Latinus. He, carrying her into the lonely woods as if she were an ordinary woman, and taking care that she was not seen by anyone who knew her, supported her in a house he built in the forest, which was known to but few. But in the course of time, finding that the Latins made great search for the woman and that the people accused Ascanius of having put her to death, he acquainted them with the whole matter and brought the woman and her son out of the forest. From this experience, Silvius got his name, as I have related, and so did all his posterity. And he became king after the death of his brother, though not without a contest with one of the sons of Ascanius, — Iulus, the eldest, — who claimed the succession to his father's rule"

The fighter, rough and immoveable, tough as the earth she was born in.

And The singer, gentle and quiet, but fueled by unyeilding conviction and the love of her family.

Each with their own part to play, their own story, their own reasons to accept the call of fate, and fight the forces of darkness and cruelty. Together they can prove the oracles vision and bring balance and peace back to the Underworld!

She narrowed her eyes, lips curling into a mischievous smile. "Oh, two of us can play that game," she muttered, a glint of challenge in her voice.

Without hesitation, she let the magic flow through her, her body shifting and twisting until she transformed into a sleek black panther. Her muscles rippled under her dark fur as she padded towards Silvius.

With a light growl, Jaheira tugged at his tail and pounced, rolling him onto his back like a pair of oversized housecats. She batted at his paws, her eyes gleaming with the thrill of the playful challenge.
