#silver flames

Two thoughts:

1. Silver Flames should’ve been two books. Parts 1 and 2 were amazing, part 3 was still solid, but part 4 felt insanely rushed. Literally all the major events (the Blood Rite, Feyre’s pregnancy, Briallyn) happened back-to-back with barely any depth or breathing room. It’s sad because the setup was so strong.

Sarah hated being pregnant, it was traumatic for her. Constant tests and appointments, having to only be allowed to gain a certain amount of weight, her son was born in an emergency c-section, had people shame her for taking drugs during delivery. She was told to eat by one doctor to prepare for delivery then had another doctor yell at her for eating once she had to have c-section. Josh wasn't allowed in operating room with her, was shaking with terror, doctors ignored her. Med school intern was the only one who helped her with her nerves then the surgeon messed up the incision he made. It took her awhile to even want to have a second kid.

Feyre's story was Sarah's own way of processing her "shit" from her experience. Sarah's fears became Rhys's fear. The fear, the trauma, writing that allowed Sarah to get it out of her system and processing it.

Rereading acomaf is such a great experience!! Catching things you didn’t the first time or maybe even the second time, I love it. I love reading Feyre and Rhys fall in love because they became best friends first. How fucking cute is it that Feysand are each other’s best friends?! The way they love each other touches my heart. They are one and the same and I love it.

I don’t like SJM and I think her writing has gone extremely down hill. BUT I love these characters more than I hate her writing. It’s frustrating but I read her books for the characters I love. I was excited to read Silver Flames even though Nesta isn’t my favorite because I was excited to see into her head and see her growth.

I was severely disappointed in the book because I felt as if SJM was using Nesta as not only a self insert but some how a punching bag all in the same. It gave me whiplash. I wish she went a different route with Nestas character.

Not for my sake but for Nesta herself. For the Nesta fans that now hate the IC because of what SJM wrote in that hot garbage book.

However I am glad that we got introduced to characters like Emerie and Gwyn. We got to see more of Helion. There are good parts of the book, but overall I wish it gave more. I felt disconnected from this last book than I did with any of the others. INCLUDING Frost and Starlight.

I really hope she pulls her shit together for these last books of the series. I don’t think I can take this fandom picking apart every page and every interaction with the IC. lol.

I can get discussing things you don’t like about the books, critiquing it. But parts of this fandom take it way too far. Making up complete lies and spreading misinformation it’s just..draining. If they hate the books that much- why be in this fandom?
