Spring is beautiful. I love the way the world completely lights up for the new season. One thing that I don't find entirely pleasant, however, is the constant rain. I find being wet extremely unpleasant, and I rarely like being soaked in my dayclothes. Still, though, there is something hypnotizing to sitting in front of an open window and feeling the cool air blow in, still carrying moisture from the downpour outside. There's an invigorating quality to being caught as the sheets of rain coat you completely, leaving you dripping and shivering when you find shelter. It's impossible not to feel a thrill when you're completely miserable from time to time.

This doesn't only apply to the weather. Sometimes the most pleasant times of relief come immediately after the most nerve-wracking times of stress. I've never felt such a zeal for being alive as I have following my lowest points.

Even so, I don't want to spend every day leaving puddles on the carpet. In the same way one can become tired of having wet feet every time they leave the house, being steeped in anguish constantly can leave them sick and exhausted. I love the weather of spring, despite the inconvenience, but I look forward to the sky giving way instead to warm days full of resting in the sun. I long for the days when I can put away my work and take the time to simply consider how comfortable I am, despite the rain that hovers around my mind and heart.
