I’ve been asked a couple times since working on Cerrudo’s, ‘Silent Ghost’ what the ballet means. We weren’t told anything specific, but I read that when it was created on Aspen Santa Fe Ballet Cerrudo did have an initial concept in mind. In the end he says, “What the audience finds in it is really up to them”. I really love that because it leaves room to whomever is watching or dancing it to connect with it however they wish. For me, it’s clear it’s about relationships; interpersonal connections that will always be there, even when the physical body is not anymore. And also, love and community. A beauty that is seen when people come together though we are all living such separate lives. I don’t know, maybe I see too much into it... It helps me though. I can bridge my own personal experiences into the movement. The intention is genuine and I think of all the special people in my life. Even the ones that are no longer. It’s so satisfying to perform this way.
