Blue banded bee (Amegilla asserta) clinging to a grass stalk.
This bee was found dead, clinging to the grass stalk whilst I was walking home from a doctors appointment. I really don't like killing bugs (though sometimes in my line of work I do need to for dna extraction/identification). This is definitely my most popular photo. I've got a couple Plectranthus in my garden that I planted specifically for these guys, and each year I get a buncha females guarding them from other bees.
