How to Take Care of Your Sieves (So They Last Longer) 🧽
Sieves are simple tools, but they need a little care to keep working well. Here's how to make yours last longer.
What are sieves used for? Sieves are mesh screens used to separate powders and granules by size. They're used in pharma, food, and other industries to remove impurities and keep products consistent.
Why maintenance matters: A sieve that isn't cared for properly wears out faster and can cause problems during production, like clogging or damage to the mesh.
Simple care tips:
🔹 Clean it after every use. Leftover powder can block the tiny holes in the mesh. Use a soft brush or air blower to clean it, never a hard brush, as it can tear the mesh.
🔹 Handle it gently. Rough handling during use or cleaning is one of the biggest reasons sieves get damaged early.
🔹 Use the right brush. A common mistake in pharma plants is using metal brushes instead of soft nylon ones. Metal brushes damage the mesh much faster.
Different sieves for different jobs: 🔹 Vibro Sifter Sieves — fast screening of powders and granules 🔹 Multimill Sieves — for a consistent, repeatable particle size 🔹 Comill Sieves — gentle milling with less heat and damage to the product 🔹 Turbo Sifter Sieves — for high-speed, high-volume production
The result of good care: When sieves are cleaned and handled properly, they last longer, break down less often, and keep production running smoothly.
