Everything You Ever (1/?)
So apparently I had a WIP among my files that I never posted, and I rectified that today! I posted the first and second chapter of this CSI: NY fic where, in the aftermath of Angell's death, there is more violence that the team has to endure. I have no idea when I'll get to watch CSI: NY again to refresh my memory on how all the characters sound, but please enjoy the start of it for now!
Everything You Ever - While the team is toasting Angell's memory, the restaurant they are in is the target of a drive-by shooting. Flack is severely injured, and it's up to Mac and his team to find the suspects while supporting Flack through some of the toughest times he's ever been through.
Read Chapter 1
Shots rang out as everyone toasted Angell. Glass shattered and everyone tried to hit the floor as soon as they could. Most of them succeeded, Stella thought to herself as the gunfire stopped and the sound of a car squealing it’s tires to speed away was heard. “Everyone okay?” she called out. She was given answers by almost everyone. But two people were conspicuously absent. Hawkes went around to check one of the waitresses who had been near the bar, and Flack was…
“Waitress is dead,” Hawkes said quietly as Stella got to Flack and her eyes widened.
“Flack!” Stella said. There was a pool of blood under him and he was unresponsive, but when she checked his pulse she felt one. “Someone call an ambulance!”
Hawkes hurried over from where he was and joined the crowd that was gathering around Stella. “Don’t move him!” he said, kneeling down nest to Flack, next to Stella.
“But he’s bleeding.”
Hawkes took a look. “It looks like he got shot in the back,” Hawkes said quietly. “But if we move him…”
“I know,” Stella said. “But we have to do something!”
“Ambulance should be here in a few,” Mac said. He looked worried, but he turned to Stella, who was holding his hand. “He’ll be okay. He’s a fighter.”
“Mac,” she said quietly. “Mac, why him? After today…why him?”
Mac was quiet, not knowing how to answer that question. Everyone sank into silence until the ambulance got there, and then there was a rush of activity as the paramedics attempted to stop the bleeding and get him on the bus without hurting him more.
“Which hospital are you taking him to?” Stella asked the paramedic.
“Trinity,” she said.
“We’ll meet you there,” Mac said. He looked around at everyone. “Danny, call his family. Everyone else…” he trailed off.
“We’re going to the hospital,” Hammerback said firmly. “He can’t be alone. Not today.”
Mac nodded. “Then I’ll let whichever detectives are handling this know we’re all going to be at Trinity to get our statements and I’ll meet you there.” The others dispersed and Mac stood looking around the scene, his eyes moving to the pool of blood on their own volition. Why today, he thought to himself before his brain started to figure out who had reasons to want any or all of them dead. He knew he wouldn’t be able to make this his case, because none of the CSIs were staying around to work it, but he didn’t blame them. If this didn’t need to get done he’d already be on his way to the hospital.
For now, though, he thought as he looked at the blood, he would make damn sure that the people who did this were caught. And he would do everything in his power to make that happen, even if he wasn’t handling the case personally. Because it was personal now, just like Angels case had been.
