I hate Booktok
Ok to be honest I love reading so I bought a couple booktok books and some of them were really enjoyable but at that point Booktok looks like a marketing trick. First of all lets make it clear: I dont know what b#llshit Tiktok told you if you listen audiobooks and never read a book in your life you are not a reader you are a listener. I t doesnt matter if you know what happened at page 30 in Acotar the whole point of reading is take a break from screens and not learn the whole stoey by heart. And I know that not everyone can afford buying all this books but you can borrow them from your friends or read them in a bookshop or a library. Also if you read real books you shouldnt complain about the words. Yes its an adult book of course it ha to many words what did you expect. And the books everyone reccomends has just the same plot. Overpowered FMC shadow daddy MMC a predictable and not scary at all enemy and LOTS OF SMUT. I am religious but Im not conservative or a mormon and still I find this really uncomfortable to read this or to recommend it to someone. But the worst books that Booktok conviced me to buy has to be the Shutter me series. The first book was good the second.. ok and the third was the reason I stopped reading the series. The characters looked like Twilight copycats and the story felt like it was written with Chat gpt. No Aaron Warner isnt an angel on earth and again just because hes hot you cant find an excuse for everything. And btw he didnt feel love for Julliette he felt lust. And yes Julliette use her depression as an excuse to be annoying. Now Im not a momster and I usually feel empathy for characters with trauma or depression but Julliette remembers her trauma when she dont know which boyfriend to choose or when they forced her to wear a dress. Like yeah a real torture who they think you are a girl? (I dont know if this reminds you of someone btw)
And the whole plot point where everyone randomy has power has to be the worst part of the series.Like I wanted to read a dystopian novel not a superhero story about forgettable character (exept Kenji hes funny) who pretend to be Xmen .Oh and btw do tou remember the fact that Julliette can touch anyone bc shes going to kill him? oh she magically solve this problem in one chapter
I cant believe I ll say this but... Twilight is a way better book. Read this instead.
(Edit) I just saw a video of someone complaining because her book was on 3rd person and not on 1st. And lets be fr the only reason you want that is because your brain is rotten by smut. Like in same cases first person doesnt work for example the perfect couple whrn you have to present everyones point of view
