Hi! I still continue to love your work! If you're taking requests, can I have a scenario where reader (they/them BEGS Loki to paint his arms and back with body paint and he reluctantly complies
You’d been artistically inclined for as long as you could remember. There was just something about being able to sketch and to draw and to paint, no matter how terribly you did it sometimes, that brought happiness and stress release to your life like nothing else had ever managed to do.
Over time, you branched out with your artwork. You went from the corners of napkins to notebooks to proper sketchpads to canvases, but something you had always wanted to try was body paint. You’d watched numerous videos on Instagram and Snapchat and YouTube, but you wanted to try it for yourself.
Sure, you had your own legs and arms to practice on, and that was okay, for a while, but eventually you decided you wanted a bigger canvas, and you could see no better option than roping your best friend into it.
You tried everything you could think to bribe them into agreeing. Paying for lunch for an entire month, making their tea for them for the foreseeable future, and promising that you’d wait until no one else was around to do it, in case they were shy about being in front of everyone else while shirtless.
“I just don’t know that I understand the purpose of body painting, Y/N?”
“Well… Art doesn’t have to have a purpose, that’s why it’s art,” you pointed out sagely, nodding slowly.
“Then why do you paint?” Loki still wasn’t entirely convinced.
“Mm… ‘cause it’s fun!”
Loki looked at you for a long time, taking in your hopeful little smile, and the tub of different paints and brushes you held cradled in your arms like a small child.
“….well, I suppose I don’t see the harm in it.”
You beamed, and you looked so happy that Loki couldn’t help but to laugh.
“Did I mention that you’re the best friend ever?”
“Perhaps once or twice.”
It didn’t take you long to get Loki settled on the balcony, towel underneath them for easier cleanup, and you spread your paints out, looking at them appraisingly as you decided what you wanted to paint. You were so lost in thought, that you jumped when Loki spoke quietly.
“Am I alright like this?”
You turned back to look at them, and pushed at their arms gently. “Fold your arms… so your head is resting on your hands? Yeah, like that. And just… stay still.”
“…can I ask what exactly your going to paint on the canvas I’ve so graciously provided you with?”
You rolled your eyes as you picked up your first jar of paint and a brush. “I’ll tell you once I figure it out.”
Over the next two hours, you painstakingly outlined and blended and painted across Loki’s back and arms, and slowly the picture in your head began to come to life before your eyes, and with one final stroke of gold paint, you sat your paint down, and wiped the back of your hand across your forehead, completely oblivious to the fact that you had paint of every color streaked across your face.
Nodding in approval, you carefully nudged Loki’s elbow with your knee. “Hey… Wake up, sleepyhead it’s finished. And I wanted to ask for permission before I take a picture of it. Just to show you. I’ll delete it, if you want me to. But I figured you’d at least like to see what I’ve been working on.”
Loki nodded their consent, and you took a couple of pictures with your phone, and then scooted over to show them the finished product: a landscape of Asgard, or at least… the best you could do off of the stories Loki, Thor, and Valkyrie had told you and the rest of the team.
“Is that… Asgard?”
You huffed out a laugh. “At least it’s recognizable.”
“It’s more than that, it’s actually almost spot-on. Castle’s a bit off, but I’m willing to let it slide due to the fact that you painted this on a living, breathing person.”
You could feel your cheeks heat at the compliment as you took your phone back. “Should I delete it?”
Loki shook their head as they carefully sat up, doing their best not to mess up the painting you’d put so much time and effort into. “No, it’s alright. Thor and Val will love this. Once they’re done with making fun of me for letting you paint on me.”
And you had to admit, hearing Loki go around with your phone to every single other person that night and eagerly showing them the pictures while proclaiming “Look what Y/N did, I’m so proud of them!” was definitely a confidence boost you didn’t know you needed.
