Sorry this is random, but would love to gush about Jegulus with you: less mean Regulus and golden retriever James and more Shy but sweet nerd Regulus and Bully(with a soft side only for what's his) James. I actually like bully James because it means character growth.
I LOVE THIS DYNAMIC ive been wanting to write it for a while because honestly, regulus is written as a naive and manipulatable character, to me that sounds like a little kid whose older brother and friends pick on him and he still toddles after them with a smile because he gets to hang out with his cool brother. I think James is a very good man overall, but he was a bully in canon, he can be a bully in fanon. I see him picking on regulus with sirius, especially if sirius encourages it. he's the weird, clingy younger sibling who follows them everywhere and he doesnt get why, but maybe when they're older he starts noticing things about regulus and the teasing becomes flirty teasing instead of mean, then he has to do a LOT of grovelling to make up for it
