Also learned a group game because of this called “Shiritori”, it’s a lot like telephone but you have to say a word instead that starts with the last hiragana. The game ends when the word ends with ん (or ‘n’, this is different from ‘na’,’ni’,’nu’,’ne’, and ‘no’ because they all have their own characters).
Using this gif as an example, the first person says “Houseki” ( ほうせき ), with the last character being “ki” or き, the next person should give a word that starts with “ki”.
Hello!! I just saw the Eruri shiratori collection, and I would like to know if Unfinished Business is the first in the series? The idea is so cute, how did you come up with it ☺
Hey Anon, I can't claim any credit for coming up with the Eruri shiritori series, it's entirely the brainchild of the fabulous @huxandthehound who runs the challenge for a little group of Eruri writers. There are about ten of us who take part and I think we've run it three or four times. It's a very simple idea, each writer in the sequence has to start their fic with the final sentence or word of the previous fic. The fics don't have to run on from each other and it's absolutely fascinating seeing the different directions authors go in. I don't usually take part in writing challenges, because I'm hopeless at writing on demand, but the shiritori challenges really work for me, and I love the variation in the prompts.
Unfinished Business was part of the first shiritori challenge, but it wasn't the very first fic in the sequence, I can't actually remember who kicked us off! Not all the shiritori fics have been posted on AO3, but I can highly recommend reading the ones that are there. @elivra-fanfiction has just posted an amazing one called Take a Stab, which starts with the first line of All the Time in the World, which followed on from @darlingpoppet's lovely Sukiya AU Nobiri-Ya.
