petra’s body shook visibly as she rushed back to the warmth of the hotel. despite the freezing temperatures, the blonde had decided to take a nighttime walk to take in the scenery that was the complete opposite from her new home of los angeles. the sharp air and quietness of the mountains had filled her with peace similar to what she felt back on the rolling acres of land at home. she knew los angeles wasn’t her comfort zone, but she hadn’t realized how badly she’d needed to get away until she was surrounded by nature again - at least compared to the city. she stomped her feet on the mat by the door to shake off as much snow as she could before lifting her gaze to head back to her room. well, that was her plan. she barely made it two steps away from the door and into the lobby when someone caught her attention. someone who was so familiar, but not at all at the same time.
petra froze, and her reaction had nothing to do with the fact that she was thawing from being outside. she had thought about running into cal so many times since he’d moved back to california. each time shine had flown her out for a potential casting, she’d wandered around the offices and the new city with searching eyes until she’d finally given up. and now that she had reached a point where she wasn’t constantly thinking about him and wondering what she had done to make him cut off any contact, there he was. she blinked hard. maybe it was a dream, or she was hallucinating. nope, he was right there, just about twenty feet away from her. after countless sleepless nights wondering how he was really doing, catching up on his social media like a fan, and thinking back to their hopeful last night together, caleb was in front of her and she was at a loss for words. “c--cal?” she asked tentatively, even though there was no doubt in her mind it was him. he looked much healthier, thankfully, since the last time she’d seen him, but his main features remained unmistakable - and, apparently, still made her heart flutter.
