"Feliki" are a species of cats that live in a cave that has no entrances or exits, they get in and out via their racial teleportation ability. Their society attaches a magical binding to them every 3 years, until they get their 6th at age 18, when they're expected to begin figuring out how to remove them. Each binding has a riddle only the wearer can hear, and they have to solve it to take the binding off. Each one they take off increases the number of times per long rest they can teleport, up to "Infinite" if they remove a total of 12 (which means they need to add more). Their respect for one-another is based on the number of bindings they've removed vs. the number of bindings they've had added. "6-Binds" are basically lower-class folks, respected the same as trailer-trash would be. "5-Binds" to "3-Binds" are basically middle class, "2-Binds" and "1-Binds" are the upper class, and "Freed" are basically the most respected. "Freed" tend to add additional bindings to lower their social standing, but in removing the new ones, they're considered significantly more godlike. They also have strange morals. When a son or daughter is going to be married, the parents of both discuss who is buying the other's child; and they regularly sell their sons/daughters to one another, valuing them higher with the more bindings they've removed. Their society doesn't develop family sentiment like humans do, they very easily disown one another. (Which, by the way, makes incest incredibly common among them) Their naming conventions are small sounds you make with your mouth. "Khh" "Pff" "Shih" "Tch" "Hmph" "Ehh" "Hnn" are all Feliki names. Shih here is a boy who could never remove any of his original 6 bindings, and he was bullied over it for years, so he got pissed off and went to have 6 more added, as a huge fuck-you to his people and their shitty society before he ditched them. He found out, after doing so, that his mother had wanted to sell him to pay off her debts, and the buyer was no longer interested upon seeing that he'd gone from 6 to 12 bindings. His mom told him to fuck off. So he did. He fucked off. And thus, his journey in Lucidia began. He also gets lots of boners when he sees cute girls/boys, by the way.
