                𝐑𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐓  𝐍𝐄𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐘  𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐂𝐄𝐒  𝐀𝐍  𝐄𝐘𝐄𝐑𝐎𝐋𝐋      from  huntress  ,    except  she  doesn’t  .    glare  squared  in  on  the  male  ,    stance  at  the  ready  with  gunsteel  held  in  practiced  hold  .    finger  not  yet  on  the  TRIGGER  ,    hovering  just  beside  it  ,    aware  of  the  third  in  their  party  in  krissy’s  periphreal  .    months  of  the  hunt  ,    tracking  the  supe  down  lead  to  this  moment  .    she  nods  her  head  to  the  side  ,    a  gesture  meant  for  the  girl  .                  ❛    get  out  of  here  ,    i’m  not  gonna  let  him  hurt  you  .    go  home  ,    i’ve  got  him  in  my  line  .    ❜    last  part  a  warning  ,    if  he  moves  .    she  shoots  .   

there's  no  skyline  tonight.  he's  lower,  closer  to  his  ordinary  beginnings,  and  peter's  legs  dangle  over  the  edge  of  an  old,  brick  building.  a  place  that  sits  by  the  pier  and  smells  of  rust  and  salt.  the  weathered  warehouse  is  definitely  off-limits  but  there's  never been surveillance or a need for a great escape.  peter  considers  the  question  while  he  stares  out  at  the  water,  the  pylons  and  the  driftwood  golden  in  the  last  of  the  day's  light.  it  makes  him  ache,  and  the  ache  is  blue,  when  he  thinks  of  what  he  keeps  quiet  to  keep  this  soft.  he  has  a  responsibility  to  this  city  and  he  also  has  a  responsibility  to  his  friend.  to  shield  him  from  the  additional  stressors  that  come  with  the  knowledge  of  what  he  does  when  the  sun  wanes  and  the  darkness  creeps.  still,  it's  far  from  simple  to  be  careful  with  his  words  when  he  turns  his  head  to  look  at  arthur  now,  who  glows  with  genuineness  and  melting  care.  there's  a  trembling  moment,  a  bolt  of  a  thought  that  motivates  him  to  believe  in  arthur,  [  and  he  does,  he's  had  complete  faith  in  him  since  the  day  they  met,  he's  a  good  proton!  ]  but  then  he  vanishes  again,  into  the  comforting  light  of  playfulness  and  humor.

right when she's about to say something else, reed strucker calls her away. before flori turns to leave, she smiles at him. if you really want to thank me, well, i wouldn't be opposed to you taking me for a drive in that car of yours.
