Your boss held a corporate party for new years every year! It was lavish and lively, with him and his associates decorating the place extravagantly and having entertainment at ever corner.
Though, Vox had always disappeared just before midnight. Perhaps he'd grown tired or decided to get back to work. But, you had a sneaking suspicion that it had to do with a certain tradition that involved a kiss at midnight.
Valentino obviously had at least thirty people to kiss, and you swore you saw Velvette and her assistant Melissa sneak off to makeout somewhere before the clock struck midnight. But, Vox? He didn't quite have anyone to kiss— Though, that could change...
You two had gotten awfully close lately. With his old assistant Ethan fired, Vox had promoted you to take his place! Things were going well, and Vox had even complimented your work ethic.
Though, you felt as though relationship went beyond just coworkers at times.
Vox's eyes would scan you up and down, he thought you didn't notice but it was hard to miss with those big eyes of his. His hands would linger on yours when passing files just a little too long— and dear god did you wish those hands were unbuttoning your blouse—
Anyway, not the point!
Tonight, Vox had continued his pattern of disappearing before midnight— but this time you decided to follow him. He zapped off around ten minutes till 12 and you scanning he tower trying to find him.
He wasn't in either of his offices, nor was he anywhere in the lobby of the tower. You figured you'd try your luck in his personal floor that you were only allowed in for "emergencies".
Checking up on your boss counted as an emergency, right? You use your VoxTek keycard to enter his floor and wait for the elevator to open. As it does, you step in and see Vox sitting at his desk, his chair turned around to face the floor to ceiling windows.
He watched the lively city below him: the fireworks going off, people celebrating and cheering, couples getting ready to exchange a kiss at midnight. He snarled at that before yelping as a hand touches his shoulder.
"Sorry, sir!' you say, retracting your hand, "I-I was just—". "My floor isn't open to employees," he states flatly. "R-Right I just... thought something bad might've happened since you left the party so soon.".
Vox sighs and leans back in his chair dejectedly, "Nope, nothing happening. It's just me up here.". You slowly move closer and lean against his desk, trying to ignore the way your heart's about to thump out of your chest.
"There's one minute left to midnight," you say.
He scoffs, "Psh, and?".
"W-Well I just—"
"Just what?" he cuts off, "just thought I needed company? Listen, sweetheart, I don't know what you thought about me but I'm not some desperate loser who needs some employee to—".
You cut him off by kissing him, his words halting as your soft lips press against his. He tenses before relaxing into you, kissing you back with equal fervor. Fireworks and cheering go off on the streets below, people celebrating as the new year comes along.
You pull back and smile softly, "Happy New Year, sir.". "R-Right I uh, ahem, happy new year!" he says with a strained smile. You chuckle and turn to walk away, but he grabs your waist and pulls you onto his lap.
"Have I ever told you about my resolution to make out with a super hot assistant before the year ends?" he says with a smirk. You smile and shake your head, "No, but I just might be able to help with it.".
