Instead of all the space stuff, its Simon returning from the Trojan war. He has to battle monsters and gods all while desperately clinging onto the hope that his love at Itahaca, Grace, is still waiting for him.
So basically,
Odysseus = Simon (the obvious choice)
Penelope = Grace (I just wanted to see siren! Grace is that so wrong)
Athena = Ava (again, obvious)
Eurylochous = Carl (CARL <33)
Poseidon = Yao (I think he fits the serious/grumpy vibe of poseidon the most)
Circe = Ilyukhina (she's the queen ✨️)
Hermes = Rocky (okay stick with me; I hc that he met grace first when hed come down to earth once and was wanderin 'round when he saw grace doing really cool science stuff hes never seen anywhere, even on Olympus, so hes immediately intrigued and long story short they become buddies <3 grace most likely asked him if he could help simon)
Aeolus = Adrian (I dont think Adrian is *as* playful/cheery as Aeolus, so i leaned more into them being an uncontrollable force of nature and just genuinely curious of these lil fleshbags)
Scylla = the eel/monster (do i even have to say it)
Tiresias = Dubois (fits his quiet, stoic personality imo)
Calypso = Shapiro (bubbly personality, kinda. I dont think she really liked Simon; she just wanted company someone get tieresias!dubois on the phone stat)
Zeus = Stratt (controlling, manipulative, but all for the right cause)
Aphrodite = Dr Lokken (she wouldnt agree with Simon's methods)
Hephaestus = Dimitri (fits him ig?)
Ares = Dr Lamai (again, would not agree with Simon's actions and plus yuri wait who said that)
Hera = Robert Reddell (hes a problematic diva who'd kill to flaunt all those feathers, isnt that obvious >:3)
Apollo = François Leclerc (hes chill + into ecology so also makes sense ig)
Polites = Steve Hatch (the most optimistic person ever)
(I reckon Irina Petrova and Marissa are some of Simon(Ody)'s crew. Specifically. The ones who *maybe* stabs him in the back-)
I havent decided on who telemachus or antinous(+ the suitors) would be, but im inclined to leave the role of the suitors as is(so theyre epic characters), make a humanized version of Astrophage to take the role of Antinous, and make a human version of Taumeba for telemachus
