Michele called to tell me that she and her husband just finished seeing the new Fantastic 4 film and I literally spent the last half hour laughing so hard my sides ache. As stressed out as I’ve been lately, I really really needed that laughter. Oh gosh, that’s the happiest I’ve felt in a week.

I started binge listening to the episodes last week and I’ve nearly gone through all five years worth of programs already. I can’t get enough. Not only is the show in the style of the old time radio programs I listened to when I was a kid but the leads are modeled after characters I’ve loved all my life (Nick and Nora Charles from the Thin Man films but instead of solving crimes they deal with ghosts, vampires, werewolves, and all manner of things that go bump in the night). It’s smart, it’s funny, it’s incredibly well written and it’s wonderfully performed. It’s like Beyond Belief was tailored made to suit my interests. There’s nothing about it I don’t love. Also, Frank and Sadie Doyle have shot astronomically high on my list of OTPs, not only for their wit and love for one another but because of their insistence on proper grammar at all times, even when facing imminent death.  

Drinks all of the coffee - Felicity. Oliver’s lucky to get a cup before Felicity finishes the pot by herself. 

Brings up adopting a pet - Oliver. He only mentions it after he gets the idea of having a guard dog but before he can finish explaining his thoughts, Felicity is already rambling about fluffy adorable kittens 

Kills the bugs - Oliver. What use are all those muscles if he can’t be counted on to kill the creepy crawlies?

Cooks the meals - They’re both capable of making the basics but, with the hectic craziness of their lives, they typically grab food whenever and wherever they can.

Starts getting into holidays way before they should - Neither really. The holidays make Oliver broody so unless he’s doing something for Thea’s sake, neither of them make a fuss. Also, since Felicity’s Jewish she approaches the holidays from a slightly different angle.

Initiates the couple selfies - Usually Felicity but Oliver will on occasion

Forgets the birthdays and anniversaries - They’re both too busy to remember everything but that’s what technology and synchronized calendar apps are for.

Always ends up with too much junk food after grocery shopping - It’s not a regular occurrence, but Felicity’s been known to throw a few bags of candy or a couple boxes of snack cakes into the shopping cart when she’s particularly stressed. The sugar helps. It’s been proven in a study somewhere. Probably.

Drinks all of the coffee - Definitely Myka. After all, her happiest place hallucination involved a large cup of Americano coffee with an extra shot.

Brings up adopting a pet - Pete, because “Oh my gosh Mykes, look how cute this little guy is! We should totally get one!”

Kills the bugs - Myka 

Cooks the meals - Jinksy. Otherwise I imagine that, even if she were amazing at it, Myka would make Pete do the cooking after he makes one too many cracks along the lines of her being the “little woman in the kitchen.”

Starts getting into holidays way before they should - I imagine they both get psyched for the holidays super early and start playing Christmas songs before Halloween

Initiates the couple selfies - Pete, because I picture him goofily grinning ear-to-ear and Myka with either resigned or mildly annoyed facial expressions.

Forgets the birthdays and anniversaries - Pete. Myka remembers everything.

Always ends up with too much junk food after grocery shopping - Absolutely Pete since Myka has that whole “sugar is bad, I don’t eat junk food” thing, but he always gets Twizzlers or something for when she gets stressed/has cheat days.
