Shell swapped my switch yesterday ✩ ꩜
Just needs the case now ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧
Lately I've been slowly chipping away at a shell swap of my very first DS (totally not a metaphor for transitioning /s) but as I went to test if everything was hooked up properly, the screens didn't turn on and there wasnt any sound :'( but the indicator lights work! So idk. Stress dreamed about it. Idk what to do with my poor baby I've had her since 2010
(the "wires sticking out" is the wifi antenna and mic so they're not the reason the screens aren't turning on) it could be the battery is just too old, or maybe I damaged the fragile ribbon cable.
Have a gun you need a shell for?
What You Should Know About Our Holster Shell Swap Program
One of the aspects of purchasing an Alien Gear holster is our holster Shell Swap program, formerly standard for all holsters sold but now only for the Cloak series of holsters. Some folks are curious why we offer unlimited shell swaps and/or how it works... That said, let's go ahead and get into the nitty gritty.. Continue reading at: https://goo.gl/ETw8rh

Oh yeah, I did a thing as well.
I took apart my switch 2 and shell-swapped it. Everything when okay, it's functional and I don't have to use cases. As well as knowing how to take apart a switch now. (I also changed the rail sticker colors to black. Those things stink by the way.)
I'll be sure to add that to the other game consoles and controllers I've taken apart. It's honestly really fun. 🎮
I don't recommend this if you're heavy handed or impatient.

Before / after
This tamagotchi is a survivor
I bought it in a lot and i quite like that shell but this tama was covered in glue (i don't know what kids did to it)
I cleaned the whole shell, and then put battery in it, it just didn't turn on...
Opening it inside, some of the screws had slight rust, and the paper design under the screen seemed to show water stains on the edges
It seemed like it fell into water or got through a washing machine
This poor tama really have seen it all.
Since the lot i purchased contained another v4 and I preferred this blue cloud shell I attempted to swap the inner content of the tama.
It went well until the last second, one of the wire of the speaker detached from it.
And I dont have a soldering iron for now....
So the tama now work, but is mute until I re-solder the speaker
I will try when I can.
Found a Switch Lite wandering by the side of the road, which had either been abandoned by it's family, or bolted. (Highly likely leapt from a moving vehicle, or was thrown.) Either way, it was in rough shape and needed some TLC. After calling Nintendo and being informed their owners could not be reached, we decided to adopt and take on the medical expenses ourselves.
Injuries:
+The right joystick had completely sheared off (OUCH!)
+The R bumper permanently depressed (probably road grit/inflammation)
+Some gouges in the screen that have been deemed cosmetic only (scuffed digitizer), so we've decided to forego treatment rather than suffer the additional injury of separating the digitizer from the screen
+Scrapes and grit embedded in the shell, left joystick pad torn
+(emotional) 340 hours in the YouTube app, and not much else. Though it was found with a Spyro game card clutched in its jaws, so that's something.
Prognosis:
There is room to be optimistic about a full recovery! My Homosexual Audacity had led me to (erroneously) believe I could handle this rehab alone, but luckily my spouse is much more level headed than I am and is willing to help.
How it started:
How it's going:
(We're taking a break because it bit me and L has had to drill out 2 stripped screws)
Notes:
Hey, Nintendo, I know you'd rather we mail these in to be repaired, but you should know that making your screws out of toothpaste really sucks and makes them very prone to being stripped even by the most steady handed, patient technician.
Will update this post once the operation is complete!
Update:
Unfortunately *both* speaker modules tore completely free of the board, so the speakers are dead in the absence of some creative soldering, BUT the headphone jack (and presumably bluetooth) still work so this lil guy will just play in stealth mode from now on.
In other news, both sticks, all buttons, and the entire shell have been replaced! Hooray!
I captured the moment that Rutherford finally decided it was done with its original shell forever! It was so pitifully small on the inside that it had trouble fitting its abdomen through the opening, as you can see from the false start.
