re: Akasha. your opinion is not controversial at all because she really is a bit of one note villain in the books, unfortunately.
and I love that you mentioned her transition from stone to flesh. maybe it's the whispering, the subtle rustling and Sheila's physicality, but Akasha really has that serpentine quality to her that I've not seen in any vampire so far, aside from Louis. the pretermatural stillness and then the sudden explosion of movement, like a snake striking to bite, only adds to it.

And yes!! Sheila delivered such an incredible physical performance in and of herself, but she was so well supported by the writing of that monologue and the make-up and prosthetics and the vfx and the sound design and the score. Truly just everyone coming together to maximise their joint slay, haha. I can definitely see the serpentine feeling (I felt there were some hints almost of a sort of Medusa-esque, Greek figure in her? Which was pretty incredible, also parts of it felt a little Ganja & Hess to me, which is also thrilling), but there was something to the tapping too that felt really original and really got to me? Just - - otherworldly, like I said in the last post, and I'm so, so thrilled that she's our Akasha.

omg I love this because a) they just look so beautiful (and Jacob does too in the photos with him), and b) they're not hiding that Sheila is probably two inches taller than Sam, since I think she's 5'11" and it seems like Sam is 5'9"?
They're so beautiful, anon, and I love that they're not hiding their height difference too. I really hope the show doesn't either, it feels like something they can have so much fun with.

Do you think Sam could brought up her name to Rolin since he knows her talent? Not saying casting wasn't fair, it would be disrespectful to everyone involved, but I don't buy that Sheila just HAPPENS TO worked already with Sam. Maybe, like Alan Taylor, who recommended Jacob, which helped a little, yet Jacob still had to earn his place with many rounds of audition and big competition
Yeah! I think I've only seen her in The Woman King, but I remember her really standing out in that (although the whole cast of that film was pretty excellent). It's so funny that she and Sam have worked together before too. He definitely could've brought her up to Rolin and co - we know that he brought up Emma - but Sheila also seems to be a very established British theatre actress, which Rolin seems to have a penchant for and a pretty deep knowledge of, so I think there's a good chance Sam and her already having worked together was probably just frosting, y'know?
I can't wait to get to see them work together, and for her take on Akasha!
Akasha actress is 182 cm / almost 6 feet according to google… I like this thing of putting Sam next to tall people 😌
I kind of hope they have Lestat in universe talk about being 6' only to immediately put him next to people who are actually 6' in Sheila and Damien, haha.
