Its disheartening when all the mainstream image-sharing platforms get enshittified by billionaires who just want us to view their rightwing slop and censor our speech especially queer people and then new sites get made with the vision to create a hub for artists but we are met with heavy censorship
Last year I was really trying to expand my platforms and try out all the new websites that were popping up for artists but they seem to have the same problems when it comes to censorship for the purpose of appearances and not really to "protect" anyone from anything
I was looking through Sheezy's guidelines and it really gives the feeling of "we dont wanna be like those gross fetish websites! pure and good artists please use our platform!" and "you can post GOOD AND POSITIVE sex art but if we think its BAD AND GROSS sex art we will remove it without caring about the context of it!"
When I was trying to research the Cara NSFW guidelines it basically says "we dont allow NSFW because we dont have a substantial enough team for that yet" and then doesnt elaborate on what they as a collective consider to be NSFW anyways so i don't even know if most of my art containing female nudity is even allowed
Like my art is tame as hell, but how do i know some moderator isn't gonna think my sphinx art is feral fetish material because the character has human female characteristics while having a quadruped animal body lmao
What if I want to post art relating to abuse that reflects my own experiences but some moderator wants to take it down since its not Good Clean Pure sex and therefore i must be advocating for real abuse
How do they tell the difference between noncon art and consensual bdsm art unless the artist puts a disclaimer
Ive started using furaffinity especially now that they've installed a proper tagblock feature (about damn time) although they have their own issues just because the atmosphere there seems way more relaxed compared to some of these other sites. sometimes u just need to throw in with the freaks to have some peace
TLDR i think websites need to be focusing way more on letting users curate their own experiences via tagblocking and algorithm instead of trying to censor everyone
