if they weren't siblings, would sturgeon kill trout over the daisy situation?
I think too much about their situation would change entirely if they weren't siblings. So much about how they were raised is dependent on them growing up together. If Sturgeon weren't there to protect Hake and Trout from Thresher as best she could, they'd be different cats.
I don't think Sturgeon would still be part of the family if she wasn't Threshers daughter and hadn't been made an heir. She probably would have stayed a few more weeks and then become a Daisy herself out of grief for the religion that would let her mother die.
I don't think Trout and Hake would be such gentle/fragile personalities if Thresher raised them to the fullest degree.
I'm overthinking this entirely, but so much about their situation changes fundamentally if they weren't siblings and its breaking my brain a little.
Maybe yeah, a Sturgeon who didn't know Trout would want to kill her for what she's done. But in a world where Sturgeon and Trout didn't know each other, this wouldnt have happened.

Do you have any characters you regret killing off? If so, who?
I have characters I miss writing, but I don't regret killing them off (or sending them ambiguously into the sea).

I am unsure, I think even a minor redesign would make me happier with her; different leg markings / blue eyes / pink nose / more white on neck.
I also wouldnt mind eye stripes because she'd look like my cat mayo :3

Does it bother you when people sand down your characters to be more flat than they actually are? Like how people think Gull is cruel for fun and that Sturgeon is some angry meat head that would lash out for no reason?
I usually feel bad when I see people just reduce characters down so much.
It doesn't bother me, there are certainly some takes that makes me say "wow i've never seen someone so incorrect" to myself though.
People are entitled to their own opinions of the media they read, even if I don't agree with their interpretation. I try not to correct people on how they read a situation or feel about the characters, unless their takeaway seems actually harmful.
These characters also all have lived in my head for years, I know more than is on the pages. Sometimes when a character is perceived so radically wrong, I take a step back and play the game of "Am I portraying this character the way I intend to?" or "Does this person lack reading comprehension."
And if I determine I'm not portraying them the way I mean to, then I've got some writing to do!

hello! out of curiosity, since when has wlb been in the works? as in were the characters specifically created to be made into a comic, or was it an oc first comic next situation?
I probably played around with it for like a month before launching it, I didn't take much prep time.
I did the first chapter, and then took like a 6 month hiatus to finish my previous comic out, and then full speed ahead on WLB ever since.
I binged the entire 900-something pages of this comic and now I’m frothing at the mouth for the next page
