With the police investigation called off due to a lack of evidence, I began looking for him myself. I will not just accept what happened and forget about it. I was an innocent child who was used to satisfy someone else's fantasies and I refuse to stand for it.
I began searching for his location online. I remembered at the time of the abuse that he was training to be a nurse, so I went through NHS websites to see if I could find him there, but nothing was coming up. I then searched social media for his profile without any luck, it was as if he didn’t exist online.
However, his surname did lead me to his wife and daughters Facebook profiles. I began scrolling through every post, checking all the comments, all the likes, all the tags, but there was no link to him. However he was in some of their pictures and when I saw him I panicked. I stopped what I was doing for a moment and I forced myself to stare at his face. It really frightened me to see him again. That fear soon turned to anger as I could see him smiling with his family on holidays and at christmas’. That is a life I feel he does not deserve and it made me even more determined to find him and confront him on what he did.
