Psst, hola!! Thought I could do a bit of sneaking in and do some justice for my friend? (We’ll call her Tex for privacy,If you are open to answer, of course, I hope this isn’t much but I do understand if u decide not to answer <3)
U see, Tex is a fandom artist/writer but she really enjoys writing more...but recently, she’s been falling out of the swing? She feels her taglist is useless because most don’t anything with her posts, and that some mutuals are losing interest in her? We both noticed that one she is particularly fond of stopped reading her stuff but seemed to interact with others. They are friends but it is disappointing to see that...And all in all, she is getting really disappointed in her work. She had something really special for the fandom to see but she is not confident anymore, she really wants to keep writing for them but it seems like no one wants her to...what can I do to help? I’m only new myself, so I don’t have a lot of followers...
Hi there anon! I'm not sure how qualifed I am to help, but I'll try my best.
FIRST THINGS FIRST: People read Tex's work. People love Tex's work. It may seem like there isn't a lot of interest, but people will read it. Who knows, maybe Tex has already written someone's favorite fic! People are going to find her fics, people are going to love them. It's always hard when you don't get very much attention- it feels like you're shouting into a void. But often times you are hidden off by a thin screen and someone will stumble into them eventually- and love them. It's super difficult to find motivation to continue when you don't get very much response, but please let Tex know that there are people who love her fics, and trust me when I say this: People. Do. Not. Want. Her. To. Stop. More content creators mean more content for the fandom, and no one wants less content.
Another thing to maybe take into consideration is the size of the fandom- if it's a fairly small fandom, then it's understandable that it won't pick up very much attention. The same is actually true for a large fandom as well! If Tex is the writing for a very large fandom, there might be simply too much content in the fandom, and it's difficult to discover smaller writers and artists.
As for the taglist, maybe try having her reach out to those people? Send them a quick dm or ask, asking if they were still interested in being on her fic taglist. It might just take a kickstart for them to remember to comment/like/reblog her works.
Another way to gather more attention is to make friends in the fandom! Interact with others more, reach out to others in the fandom, etc. Support other writers and artists by commenting/reblogging so that more people are aware that Tex is part of the fandom! Tex should make a writing masterlist to pin, if she doesn't already have one, so that people checking out her blog can immediately find her content (I would also recommend putting summaries of each work in the masterlist as well, I'm more likely to check out a work if I know what it's about).
You, as a friend, even despite not having a lot of followers, should still reblog all of her works and comment! You can also start interacting with the fandom more, and help spread the word and her fics around!
I'm sorry I can't be of more help, but I wish Tex the best of luck in growing as a creator! Her writing is amazing and needs to be sent out into the world. I hope this could be of some assistance or reassurance to you and Tex ❤️❤️
