Während der Platz vor dem Neuen Schloss in Bayreuth mit Kopfsteinpflaster gepflastert ist, befindet sich auf der Rückseite des Gebäudes der Hofgarten, eine herrliche Parkanlage mitten in der Stadt. Wilhelmine verfügte über weniger finanzielle Mittel als ihr Bruder in Preußen und so musste sie kreativ sein. Sie wandelte einfach zwei Häuserzeilen die durch eine Lücke voneinander getrennt waren, in ihr Schloss um. Die Lücke schloss sie durch ein weiteres Gebäude, das man hier mit den Figuren auf der oberen Seite der Fassade sehen kann. While the square in front of the New Palace in Bayreuth is paved with cobblestones, at the back of the building is the Hofgarten, a beautiful park in the middle of the city. Wilhelmine had fewer financial resources than her brother in Prussia, so she had to be creative. She simply converted two rows of houses separated by a gap into her castle. Da bekommt man doch gleich eine viel, viel bessere Stimmung, wenn die Sonne scheint und die Stadt in ein ganz anderes Licht taucht. Die Vögel zwitschern wieder am Morgen und die Menschen sind besser drauf. So bezuckert wie auf dem Bild ist es zwar nicht mehr, aber wir erinnern uns trotzdem gerne. Auf dem Bild ist das Neue Schloss zu erkennen, das Markgräfin Wilhelmine errichten ließ und auf dessen Rückseite der Hofgarten beginnt. Heute eine Detailaufnahme vom Neuen Schloss in der Eremitage. Es ist mit Bergkristallen verziert, die sowohl dem Sonnentempel als auch den beiden Flügelbauten ihr märchenhaftes Aussehen geben. Die Erklärung hierfür ist, dass Apollos Palast aus Kristall bestand. Die Architektur soll auf diese Weise immateriell und wie aus reinem Licht gebaut wirken, wie es sich für den im Himmel angesiedelten Tempel des Sonnengottes gebührt. Bayreuths Prachtstraße im trüben Winterwetter. Die Friedrichstraße mit den zahlreichen Palais gilt ja allgemein als Vorbild für weite Teile Potsdams. So zumindest die Legende. Aber einen Beweis, dass das nicht stimmt, gibt es eben auch nicht. Friedrich der Große war so beeindruckt, dass er nach dem Besuch bei seiner Schwester in Bayreuth einige Ideen mitnahm. Bayreuth's boulevard in cloudy weather. The Friedrichstrasse with its numerous palaces is generally regarded as a blueprint for large parts of Potsdam. At least that's the legend. But there is no proof that this is not true either.
